Has this ever happened on this channel?! xD I think at its core, if you look past all the mystery and horror elements, this show is about finding inner peace through faith - whether it's a specific religious faith, a non-specific spiritual faith, or an agnostic/atheistic faith that the Earth will keep on spinning without you. Each character, in their own way, is asking questions about the purpose of life and the nature of death. No character is really portrayed as right or wrong (apart from...well, I won't spoil anything hehehe) but simply as seeking answers to unanswerable questions. Pretty much every episode offers a different discussion. As Paige mentioned above, this show was a deeply personal project for the writer, Mike Flanagan, so don't worry about it turning into a generic "scary cult in a small town" story, it's much more than that :) Just like Hill House was basically a story about love and grief and how we deal with it, Midnight Mass is basically a story about life and death and how we interpret it. "Let me go bake a fish for lunch" xDD
