2023-07-22 01:08:08 +0000 UTCIt always stuck with me that Harry and Voldemort/Tom Riddle were very similar, and I read these heartbreaking moments and loneliness whenever I was re-reading the books again, I mentally placed the name Tom in place of Harry. The way people tell Harry in the movies "There is good and bad inside of everyone. What matters is what we choose to act on--that is who we truly are." , "It is not how you are alike, it is how you are not." , "It is not our abilities that show who we truly are, it is our choices." , "Help will always be given to those who ask for it." , and of course "Help will always be given to those who DESERVE it." And it all brings me back to the face off with Dumbledore and Malfoy, when Dumbledore tells him "Years ago, I knew a boy who made all the wrong choices. Please, let me help you." Knowing that Draco needed help, but would not ASK for it. It is exceedingly interesting to me how these three boys, Harry, Tom, and Draco, experience similar lives, however the choices they make are largely due to the influences in their lives.
