I think it'll be OK. I just checked Amazon and the editorial description of the DVD lists the episodes and it has the pilot as first. Can anyone else reading this who has the DVD confirm this?

The Fox network, for some baffling reason, didn't show the pilot episode, titled "Serenity," which introduces the situation and the characters, first. They started with an episode called "The Train Job" and didn't show the pilot until late in the run. I don't know why. To confuse things further, the movie they made 2 years later to give the series a proper conclusion, is also titled "Serenity." So you should begin with the episode titled "Serenity" (filmed in 2002), and end with the movie, also titled "Serenity" (released in 2005). I hope that doesn't confuse you more, but it's important you watch the pilot first and the episodes in proper order. They tell a continuing story.
