Funny you should mention Alanis, whose so famous for her angry break-up song, You Oughtta Know. I always thought Emm Gryner's Free was one of the best break-up songs too. You nailed it in your interpretation. She has had it with being controlled... she has done everything for this guy, and he never even asked her how she felt. She just wants to be free. It's such an affirming song of strength. Thanks so much for your reaction!
