I believe the voices he keeps hearing say Welcome to Hotel California are souls that just keep checking in at the hotel. So may that the voices never stop. I don't think he is in purgatory but an Hell, you can never leave. The men dancing are just entertainment for the Lady who I think represents the Devil.
