I don't know how good Google Translate is: https://kaffeeringe-de.translate.goog/2024/07/02/projektmanagement-mit-nextcloud/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=de&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=wapp πŸ˜„

Yeah, I can understand a bit of German (I had that as my 3rd language in high school), but likely not enough to understand all this, it's been 15 years :D

In the end, we agreed that it would be nice to have them work on their already existing end of year project, using agile methods. They don't have yet another project to do, on top of having a job + studying, and it teaches them agile on a real project that will actually happen!

The Linux Experiment

Good idea, thanks!

The Linux Experiment

Haha well, that might happen!

The Linux Experiment

I would love to hear a rant about project management methodology from you 😁

i'm in the "listens to the daily instead the watching the video" gang (well more accurately, i'm in the "moved to the weekly podcast which encouraged me to join patreon then Nick started making the daily" gang) so yeah, can confirm we exist.

An advice from my side as a teacher: go through exercise by exercise and not student by student, so you will remember easier, how much and for what you gave points.

I'd let then choose their own project and them reflect on what they did, what went well and what they'd differently next time. I think, you will be able to see how much effort they put into the project and how reflected they are about it.

Cool! I wrote a blog post with my first experiences in setting up a project using Nextcloud. Maybe there is some inspiration in there for you: https://kaffeeringe.de/2024/07/02/projektmanagement-mit-nextcloud/ (Sorry, it's German. But you know how to use a translator. πŸ˜‰)

You know what? A section on the tools is definitely important, and I’ll add that for one of the lessons in this module! As per project management, yeah, it would make a good video, I think!

I am currently working on implementing project management at my job and one important part is working with digital tools, and agreeing on standards in working with them. How do we use a Kanban board? Where do we store notes? How do we name and store files? How do we invite for meetings? This is a bit dependent on the office suite you use. And we are using Nextcloud. They give youball these tools and expect you somehow to use them corrently. But the tools don't tell you, what a good use is. My colleagues used Microsoft Planner like a pinboard. Will you be talking about these things? Maybe that could also be a nice video? Or even a set of videos? Project management using Linux and open source?
