As usual, the end of the month is approaching already, so here is what I'll be working on in June:
Linux News: as usual, one per week except for the 15th, because I'll be on vacation, so there will be 4 News videos
Plasma 6.1: this one is planned for the 18th, so I'll cover all the changes you can expect in this first major update to Plasma 6 (and it looks reasonably big)
Slimbook Laptop review: I should have received a new device from Slimbook to test, so of course I'll cover it in a dedicated video
Now, for what you can vote on:
Old UI conventions we can't seem to replace / get rid off: I'll look at a bunch of UI elements we seemingly can't find replacements for, like the system tray, a "start menu", menubars or menus in general, and a few other things, with some ideas of how they could be handled in the future, and some opinions on whether they're sticking because they were good ideas, or because of inertia
Which browser do people use, and why: a new entry in the "what do you use" series of polls, this time focused on web browsers, and the reasons why people picked a specific one, and the perception people have of each major web browser
Problematic projects: a look at a few open source projects that currently have, or had issues with how they're handled, funded, governed, or around their communities
The "one desktop" fallacy: exploring why wanting one single desktop / experience for Linux wouldn't actually help it gain market share, but would harm it instead (hint: a one size fits all approach is rarely a good idea)

I'll admit, these are tough choices, but as someone who appreciates UX design and UX designers, but is not talented at it themself, I think it would be really interesting to hear about UI element replacements. When I first started Linux a few years ago, I was on Gnome (and still am) and couldn't understand why I had to install an extension for tray icons.... It would be awesome to understand alternatives 😁
