I quite like web apps personally, I worked on a bunch of these over the years, and I think I managed to give them the same experience a "native" app has, but that's not necesarily true for every website. it also has a tendency to make websites a lot heavier than they were

The Linux Experiment

I feel like malware targeting Linux will generally try to exploit flaws in server-related software, not necessarily in stuff like GTK, Qt, X11, a compositor, or graphical programs, but on the server side, there are plenty, notably distributed as malicious npm packages or stuff in python's package manager

The Linux Experiment

Hi Nick. I see you point about Apple. On the surface it seems childish and malicious. On the other hand I’m tired of the Web evolving to be a UI platform. I’ve never met a web app I love. They all work a little differently, and peculiarly. So I’m all for them not disguising themselves as normal “apps”. I would prefer home screen web site icons behave more like bookmarks. It may just be me.

Steve C

I gotta wonder how much truth there is to Linux being less targeted by malware? I'd expect +/- 20% parity with Windows, given that Linux is used by so many servers.
