I couldn't find any info on that yet, but I would hope they would at least warn users a bit better!

the really interesting question is whether VSCodium, the open source base, also dropped Ubuntu 18.04. because if not, it's yet more proof not to trust proprietary IDEs.

Well, I am a web developer using Linux and Code OSS (the open source version of VSCode) on my every day job. It is not so easy to "just use another IDE". Code provides an enormous ecosystem for all kind of tools. Some TypeScript libraries only provide their extension for Code / VSCode. And those extensions give me a huge productivity boost. For me it is not a big deal. I need Code on my development machine. Why would I use it on a server? We use docker containers for running software on servers. Can't see the use case here.
