Exclusive Weekly Patroncast - Episode 38
Added 2021-08-09 11:16:30 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
Here is your exclusive weekly Patroncast, this time Episode 38!
In this one, I talk about:
- Firefox losing 50 million users in less than 2 years, the reasons why this is happening, and why it's concerning, in my opinion
- the elementary OS 6 dilemma, and "will I resist installing it on all my computers even though I really love KDE and where it's going"
- Opening myself up and sharing more personal stuff on the channel, and how that's been received
Oh, and also, some of you might have been dragged against your will inside of the new Discord server, a bit before I was ready to open it up, I don't really know how that happened, but if you don't want to be there, then I'm sorry!
If you want to stick around, this server is managed by really nice, inclusive people, and even though we're not many yet, it's going to grow :) I am also around as much as I can!
Don't hesitate to use the invite and share it if you want to join this new community.
I hope you enjoy listening to it!

Yeah, that’s also why I went with KDE in the first place, to try new stuff, and use other DEs as daily drivers! I definitely should keep KDE on the desktop and maybe move it to GNOME or Cinnamon or something else in the future, to stay current with what’s releasing :)

It just seems that for someone interested in and covering Linux developments, there is a good argument for having daily hands-on experience for different systems. If this was not the case, if you had say a channel for photography and uniformity improves productivity or comfort then those benefits offer a good reason to have the same everywhere. Of course it's down to personal preference. But from my point of view you have more reasons to keep using different systems both objectively and subjectively: - It might help your channel (increased knowledge and experience); - It satisfies your curiosity; - You enjoy both systems. Versus: - You enjoy uniformity.
2021-08-10 14:21:43 +0000 UTCAh yes but I’m weird like that, I like all my computers to run the same OS, and at the same time, well, I also want to use different stuff, including KDE… tough choices! For Firefox, yeah, I don’t really know, apart from having a decent mobile app sooner, they didn’t do something wrong enough to be forgotten, not that I can remember anyways…
