Quick Update for May
Added 2019-05-21 15:41:08 +0000 UTCHey guys !
First of all, I wanted to thank all of you who decided to support the channel ! You probably came from my "Not really Linux-based video", and I'm glad you liked it enough to decide to spare some hard earned cash !
1 - What's next
Here is a little update on what I'm working on at the moment :
This week (probably wednesday), I'll release a video comparison between Pop_OS! 19.04 and Ubuntu 19.04. Pop_OS has been garnering a lot of attention lately, and I think it might be interesting to take a look at how it differs from its base, Ubuntu.
It took a bit longer to record it than I liked, mainly because I had issues with my external hard drive, and had to record directly from a live USB, which is far from optimal.
I also haven't forgotten the "Replace Google Services" series, and I'm currently trying out a few photo storage / photo gallery services to create a video on Replacing Google Photos.
And, obviously, since we're already approaching the end of May, I'm working on the Linux News You Might Have Missed for the month :) (I really need another title for this series).
Kdenlive tutorials will also get back on track, first with a few changes since Kdenlive 19.04 was released, and then with a video about animating images, texts and titles with the transform and rotate effects, among others.
Of course, I'll publish the sources to these videos right here.
The next patreon vlog should be live on Sunday, if everything goes well.
2 - Your Suggestions are welcome !
I also wanted to get some of your ideas on what I should cover, so I created a small form for you guys to give me a few ideas of what you'd like to see. Obviously, I can't guarantee I'll tackle every subject, it might be out of my area of expertise, but if I can provide something interesting, I'll definitely add your suggestions to the list !
Here is the form (built with Zoho forms, I don't ask for any personal info and won't track anything) :

3 - A bit more about myself
In a more personal note, I started a new job last week (which I'll definitely use as a poor excuse for not being as regular with the videos as usual), as a Product Owner for a small startup based in Brest, Brittany (France).
I touched up briefly on my old job in my last video vlog, but to give more context, I used to work as Chief Products Officer for a medium sized company building software for real estate agencies, and after a year and a half there, I felt the job didn't suit either my values, or the way I wanted to spend my time.
Too long hours, a few terrible clients, and the mounting pressure of management made me a bit miserable, and I decided it was time for me to move on. The new job pays about the same, I'm working with a bunch of friends, and I have really enjoyed it so far.
Oh, and also, I now have a cat (which you might have glimpsed in the last video).
That's it for this one, stay tuned for the next videos and Patreon updates :)
Bye,
Nick
