April 2024 Update
Added 2024-04-03 15:36:47 +0000 UTCGreetings Everyone,
FBS
We raised $538.81 on Patreon and $63.69 on PayPal. This puts us at $2096.48 toward our $2500 goal. We should have Milestone #4 funded at the start of next month!
Serhiy has made some progress with the new artwork. However, he's unlikely to finish before Milestone #4. As a reminder, I will begin refunding some of the Milestone #2 funds with Milestone #4. When we reach Milestone #4's goal of $2500, we'll have $3500 worth of funds to vote on. I'll continue to refund Milestone #2 in subsequent Milestones until I work the amount off or Serhiy completes the artwork.
To increase the number of voters this upcoming vote, I will open voting up to Patreon. I still prefer if you use our official forums to vote because many contributors can not access the Patreon threads. But everyone has a lifetime subscription to the FBS via the forums. (If you do not have a forum account with benefactor status, contact me!)
I will update the points and website this evening.
GearCity: 2nd Gear
v2.3.0.0/2.3.0.1 has an issue with the DirectX9 renderer that can cause UI lag. I have found a workaround to this issue in third-party code. I suggest using the OpenGL renderer until I push the fix for this.
I plan to start working on a v2.3.0.2 update to fix several issues and bugs reported to me in the last couple of months when Milestone #4 is funded. The goal is to complete v2.3.0.2 by the time Milestone #4 voting finishes.
I am currently working on tracing the cause of the fuzzy background when you move the mouse in the office. This issue is also in third-party code and will require workarounds and a push upstream.
AeroMogul
Work continues to progress on AeroMogul! Since the last update, I have completed the slot acquisition system. There are now three slot statuses in the advanced game. (Medium mode has only one style and casual has no slots.) The statuses are first-come-first-serve, specific time negotiation, and full negotiation. I have not implemented the code to put airports into either negotiation status. I did add the initial part of the queuing system for them.
I got the UI for the slot system and airport filtering into a usable state.
The AI now uses the slot system in conjunction with route creation. The AI will acquire all four slots needed for a simple there and back trip. If slots are in the negotiation phase, the task is queued until completion. I also implemented a rudimentary flight time system and turnover time system. These systems are not 100% implemented but are close enough to continue. For example, a direct flight in a DC-5 from Orlando, Florida to Cairo, Egypt would take 33 Hours. (This would require some mid-air refueling...) In the game, an RC-5 from the same era takes 30.5 hours. Good enough for government work, as they say.
I am now working on several systems related to money, commodities, and expenses. I'll expand upon this further in the mid-month update.
Comments
Logistically, it's going to be a nightmare, but I'll try to make it work.
