edit: --AI video is now offline!-- Lazy Posy video candidate (not live yet) - Reaction to the negative response to the AI icon video.

The amount of negativity was something I didn't prepare for. For now, the video is offline. I could upload it here eventually.

Perhaps many viewers didn't watch until the end (in that AI icon video) but I really believed I made clear points about the problems that AI brings, as well as the entertaining part of it (which in itself is the one of the problems). It was an enormous amount of work to make but because it's AI people think it wasn't.

No more controversial topics from me 😁 And if I ever consider a controversial topic I'll be sure to check with my audience first. Attached is an AI-less version of "Are you awake".

I never ever expected this much hate towards my AI video. Currently I changed the video to "All I wanted to do was entertain 😥 I'm sorry. (AI icon)" That's perhaps a bit dramatic but very true.

I don't think you f'd up. The video is great. People are just a bit on edge about this topic at the moment. That's not going to make it go away.

Thank you :)

I actually don't get what the people are hating about. If they had just listened to what you pointed out, they would have understood that you were not praising AI into heaven. AI is in a spot right now, where people instantly lose their mind over it as soon as it's mentioned. AI is a technical development just like any other technical development ever. Being thoughtful about how we use this technology and not completely oblivious about it is super important, but people are clearly overreacting here. For all that I know, most of these guys don't even understand how much AI has been influencing their lives in a good way each and every single day for the past 5 to 10 years already. Image generation technologies that are trained on other artists work are at least ethically questionable of course, but in the end you trained the AI with your own pictures, right? And the AI Music Album is just using snippets and clips of actually AI generated sounds, which means you, sir, are still the composer of the actual song. I don't know. Maybe I missed something that would help me understand what all the fuzz is about. As of right now, I don't think you should feel bad or ashamed about the video. I liked it.

Atramentius .

And thank you again for those wise words!

Posy

Thanks :) I don't think i'll publish it...

Posy

I hope you do upload it here - As I added it to my Watch Later list I thought to myself “I should probably download this video before he removes it.”

Glenn Broadway

There is a typo in the text at 0:52 of this video that you might want to fix before publishing

Sorry that this is happening to you. I really enjoyed the video and was disappointed by the audience response. I noticed that most of the negative comments on your video were not targeted at anything specific that you said or showed, but were just generic negativity targeted at nothing in particular. It seems that rather than people criticizing actual issues with your video, people were just angry about something they already hated and were taking that anger out on you. I wouldn’t take the negativity personally or as a useful criticism of your work. In the future, it’s likely that high quality, free, open source models trained exclusively on public domain/Creative Commons works will become available, and with that, the ethical issue of using copyrighted works for training will rapidly become irrelevant. There are of course other ethical issues worthy of consideration, but once these issues are resolved, hopefully it will be possible for artists to use these tools in their work without receiving hate from their audience.

Although I agree with the points you were making, it felt a bit uncomfortable to make those points using AI, when you knew that all AI models so far were trained on material without the original artists consent. It is (currently) difficult to imagine an ethical use of generative AI. In the future, I hope that we get "ethical" models available, which are trained exclusively on data for which the original artists consented, and were paid. I won't be buying your AI album, which is sad because it will be the first Posy album I haven't bought! I hope you're not too offended by that. And I hope you don't stop making more original work, yourself.

David Glover-Aoki

I thought you handled the topic well. I think many of the comments I saw were pointing out the lack of a discussion on the ethical part of it. But I feel that missed the point of the video because it was not on the ethics of AI, it was a discussion of generative AI and that you might and might not use it. And also I felt what you did include on how they are trained was sufficient. But many peoples position on AI is so strongly negative they cannot see past that

Blake Sanderson

I liked the video, to see you experiment with new tools and get creative Yes, the sourcing of AI training data and it's energy footprint are terrible But it's here now You can't get the shit back into the horse

PatHightree

Really hoping you will make the video available on here! It was one of my favorite videos, and I thought it dealt with the controversial topic with grace. Really disappointed it got the reaction it did

Hans Josephsen

I've not seen that AI video but I would really like to. I'm surprised people would spew hate towards any Posy video tbh! I'm sorry it's soured things for you a little.

Lee Banyard

Perhaps i’ll upload it here, and very perhaps i’ll enable it or re-upload it as a version “about that video”.

Posy

I missed the controversial video. Will it be available anywhere?

Andrew Carey

Well I'm with you - thought you were clear. Liked the video! Liked it a lot actually. There's a surprising (to me) amount of reflexive hate to AI, people just being told nonsense and believing it without thinking. It's very strange. It'll die down eventually but who knows on what timescale.
