April 2021 Exclusive picture: Madlax and next month's poll

Out of the three "girls with guns" series from Bee Train, Madlax was the least succesful, falling between the action of Noir and the more grounded, humorous approach of El Cazador De La Bruja with a more dialogue-driven mystery. But it's actually my favorite out of the three, so I'm glad she got selected in the previous poll. Thank you for your continued support! Madlax took the crown, but runners up Oscar and Soma finished ex aequo in second place on their first try! Well, this has not happened before, but it means that BOTH of them get a second (and final) chance in this month's poll. They're joined by a new contestant. No overarching theme this time, unless it's the fact that all three of them were created by female artists. For a moment there it looked like Madlax would take the lead immediately in last month's poll, but in the end she did get overtaken by Ten's mother from "Urusei Yatsura". I had talked about the idea of doing this one on Discord a while back, and now I finally got around to actually doing it. Here's a dakimakura "hugging pillow" of Yumi / Themis from "Ulysses 31", in both a SFW (sort of) and NSFW version. Someone asked me recently if I ever considered drawing Sosuke with his dad. I had in fact started a sketch of Ponyo and Sosuke having bisexual sex with Lisa and Koichi once, but didn't like the way it turned out. So this is my second attempt.

Marin had to wait a long time, since her second round was postponed due to the celebratory picture, but she finally made it through. It gives me great joy to see how much interest is still there for this character from "Windaria", an excellent but unfortunately mostly forgotten '80s anime fantasy movie. Hope you all enjoy, and thank you for supporting me! Ten's mom from "Urusei Yatsura" had a pretty good run in the previous poll and came in second. I did a picture of Jeannette Pointu as an exclusive a couple of years ago, but her design has changed a lot throughout the series. I wanted to have another shot at her, based on the look she had in older comics such as " 4 x 4" and my personal favorite "Yeren". 数年前に独占としてJeannette Pointuの写真を撮りましたが、彼女のデザインはシリーズ全体で大きく変わりました。 彼女が「4x4」や私の個人的なお気に入りの「野人」などの古い漫画で見た外観に基づいて、彼女にもう一度ショットを撮りたかったのです。

January 2021 Exclusive picture: Bêlit and next month's poll

Last month's poll was a bit of an exceptional one because of the 100th picture, as it allowed former poll participants a second shot at the prize. The results were quite surprising as both Calorine from "Germain et nous" and Bêlit from Marvel's "Conan The Barbarian" were surprise favorites. Bêlit won out in the end. Now, I'm not used to drawing in the traditional American comic style, so what you're basically getting here is "Conan" as it would appear as a mid- to late-eighties anime. Hope you enjoy and let's get cracking on that new year! After the little side step of last month's poll, it's time to get back to business as usual. In our last regular poll, Marin from "Windaria" came a close second, so she gets another chance. Her opponents are two other eighties anime characters this time round. Here's my contribution to G_reaper's "Frozen Festival" art celebration of the "Frozen" movies. The Twice Is Nice (Viewers' Selection) Poll: Results

And the race is over! That was a bit too wild! Even after I intervened to put limitations on the voting and reset the votes, it still was an intense competition, with the majority of the votes divided by Team Summer Wars and Team Totoro. In the end Mei won out, with just a 1% lead, or about 10 votes in total. It would seem that if I do these participatory contests again, I will need to limit the voting even further, probably to a maximum of 3 votes per person in total. The idea was to allow for having multiple choices with your votes, but unfortunately there is no limitation where a person cannot use one's available votes on a single option. Still, with the votes almost equally divided between the two leaders and one constantly jumping over the other, I don't think that one voters' block was given an unfair advantage over the other, and as a poll progresses, people will automatically start voting more strategically.

So Totoro's Mei will be this month's Twice Is Nice, I'll try to have her ready this weekend. I was also surprised by the high demand for Summer Wars, since I haven't done any Hosoda movies. Very interesting as well were numbers 4 and 3 in the polls: Whisper Of The Heart is one of these Ghibli films I never based any material on, and most surprising was Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid in third place, a series I haven't even checked out yet.

Oh, I asked the person who suggested Mei if they wanted credit, but they prefer to remain anonymous. So thanks to everybody for participating, and remember that the poll for the next Exclusive is still going as well.
