Necromanson (Beta) Chapter 12

Henry opened his eyes. He lay on his back beneath the sheets of an unfamiliar bed, staring up at an unfamiliar ceiling. His memory of the day before turned hazy after he suffocated Zack. Henry realized his bladder was full, and so he tried to sit up, muffling a shout of pain when his side began to throb.

Henry moved his arm to run a hand over the cut in his side, and found it covered in gauze taped to his skin. Henry shifted to gingerly climb out of bed, and found himself kicking...

Necromanson (Beta) Chapter 11

Athena snapped off the last of the stone holding her, and rushed over to Henry, who watched her with half-lidded eyes. “Henry,” she said, running her gaze over the red curtain running along his side, then down to the white haired old man, whose eyes bulged in death beside him. “Are you okay?”

Athena almost smacked herself. Henry was obviously not okay. “Help,” Henry muttered, his voice barely audible. Athena’s gaze travelled around the room, and she found a needle and thre...

Necromanson (Beta) Chapter 10

Henry gave her a quizzical look just before his stomach rumbled with hunger, returning his neglect with a retaliatory gut punch. “Raid the evil wizard’s fridge before we go?” he asked in a low voice. Athena answered with narrowed eyes and a bewitching smile.

“Okay, we rig the place to blow on the pretext of getting something to eat, then we make a run for it,” Henry whispered. “As far as he knows all I can do is lift books,” Henry paused for a moment. “And maybe we can fi...

Necromanson (Beta) chapter 9

After a minute consulting Athena’s map and comparing it to the bus routes, they were on their way. The bus dropped them off a block from Zack’s house, leaving them standing on the sidewalk gawking as it rumbled away.

Zack’s house was visible from a distance. A mansion built of concrete and light. The sculptures surrounding the building melded into the concrete beneath them, looming over the perimeter of the building, setting Henry on edge. It stood to reason, if Zack’s office...

Necromanson (Beta) Chapter 8

Henry met Athena at the place they had decided on, two blocks away from Zack’s office. Athena emerged from the shadows as Henry waited beside the bus stop, his collar pulled up to partially conceal his face. Henry couldn’t see her face at first, but her distinctive intimidating walk paired with a body that strained the clothes that contained it gave her away.

“Henry,” Athena called out to him as she approached. Henry stood and nodded for her to follow him. The two of them mat...

I'm Making Some New Tiers

Stay calm, These tiers won't effect you guys in any way, I'm just putting out higher tiers because it's better to have them and not need them, than need them and not have them.

Mostly bonusless, but it might include some odd ones. If you've got some suggestions for oddball rewards this would be the place to put them.

keep in mind the amount of effort I have to spend on rewards is a factor. ie: If I have to give a BJ to everyone with a 100$ subbie, eventually I wou...

Necromanson (Beta) Chapter 7

A surge of panic filled Henry as a man walked up to Athena, and without preamble, drew his pistol, taking aim as her face turned ashen. Henry focused, pushing the gun up and away, and as the man was staring at his gun in wonder, Henry pulled the rubber band in his mind back. Henry built up force until he released a breath later, slapping the side of the man’s head with about two well placed punches worth of force.

The killer toppled to the side, senseless after a heavyweight pun...

Necromanson (Beta) Chapter 6

The forest parted around Henry, and sure enough, after about eighty feet of climbing through the underbrush, he spotted the little red berries nestled beneath the wide leaves. Henry sat down and began levitating one berry after another into the basket.

Henry’s pace was faster than an average person’s on account of not having to move, but Henry grew tired of missing berries solely because his sight was limited. Henry stopped picking berries and chewed on that thought for a momen...

Necromanson (Beta) Chapter 5

Henry broke through the fence, following the plow that rumbled forward, churning up the earth as it went. His commander led the way, cutting a path through the chaotic, ear splitting din of noise. His friends howled around him, shooting controlled bursts toward the concrete fortifications as they trotted along.

Concussive sounds, more felt than heard, travelled through Henry’s organs as the plow began pushing mines out of the ground, detonating them toward the defenders. Henry w...

Henry leapt to his feet, the chair skittering away behind him. The chains around his limbs rattled and pulled tight as he backed away from the two dead men. “Take it easy, we’re just taking you back to your cell,” the older corpse said, producing a key to the lock that held Henry’s chains fixed to the table.

“Fat chance,” Henry said, scowling.

The dead men shared a glance, and the second one pulled a taser from his belt. “Don’t make this hard on yourself. You’re al...

“I could swear you were cheating.” The corpse across from Henry said, taking a puff of its cigar. Henry found himself playing cards with three dead bodies, all teenage boys, all from one battle. Two were foreigners, speaking heavily accented English, while the third was a former member of Henry’s squad, Jessie.

The three of them were frozen in time, their wounds preserved just as they had been when Henry had seen them. Henry had aged, though, and the older, wiser man that he h...

All Henry saw was a thin slice of the man’s head, his submachine gun nestled against his cheek, a smug grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. Henry threw himself to the ground, which in this case was a flight of concrete stairs, madly squeezing off rounds as he fell. The staircase erupted with sound, deafening Henry’s scream as the other guy squeezed his trigger and filled the air with a wave of death.

Henry couldn’t see, hear, or breathe. His body was awash with pain. A...

Chapter 120: A Whole new World

***Alicia***

Light seeped in through her eyelids, and Alicia blearily opened her eyes.

While she was unpackaging shapes and colors, she noticed how sore her limbs, chest, throat and heart were.

“By Kolath, I’m alive…” She breathed, putting her hand underneath her and levering her torso up.

That was when she noticed the odd squiggles in everything, colors on top of colors, like they had always been there, but she just hadn’t been able to see them. View Post

Chapter 119: Overdose Pt. 2

Garth sat on a raised stump, watching the morning activity of the camp.

The sun was pouring through the trees from the east and partially dressed girls were emerging from their tents, stretching in the cold morning light. All he needed now was David Attenborough narrating.

there were guys too, but Garth wasn’t paying attention to them.

Garth glanced over at a musclebound teen tugging on leather boots, appreciated that someone would enjoy the view before shif...

Chapter 118: Dangers of Pissing in the Dark

Garth lay in his bedroll, staring up at the ceiling of his tent, chewing on his ideas. He wanted to make a spell technique that would allow him to weave more mana into it at a later date, allowing him to create a creature with the same power level that he’d had when he was in his prime. Kind of a modular spell, for lack of a better word.

His current concept was to introduce strong bracing in the weave, then come back and fill it in when he had rested a bit.

Problem was, hi...

Should Garth Change his looks?

Garth is average. Average height, average build. He made it a point of pride to stay the same when he had the opportunity to change the way he looks.

Now he's disconnected from his past, a teenager again, and self-inventing. Garth could change himself as a method of gaining more immediate recognition and better first impressions, (Taller, Handsomer,)- it would pay dividends, statistically.

Or, he sticks to his guns and stays the same, damn what he looks like. They should respect...

Chapter 117: Putting it all out There

Garth took a deep breath of the morning air, feeling the warm sun on his back as the train of students marched toward the west.

“So here’s my situation in a nutshell,” Garth said to the gaggle of Dentons surrounding him: Alicia, Benedette and Susie. According to Alicia, they were agents of her aunt, sent to turn him.

Of course, by that metric, Alicia was too.

Garth was pretty sure he’d be able to turn her first, though.

Unless that was what she wanted him to...

“Lovely to see you dear,” Maggie said, smothering Alicia against her chest.

“MMM!” she groaned, her airways blocked.

“What brought you home?” Maggie said, eagerly sitting down and staring at Alicia with hyper-focus.

All this was strange. First, when she arrived, one of her younger sisters had cried bloody murder, and run off, and less than a minute later Maggie herself had come to get her and sat her down for a talk.

Having grown up with her, Alicia could...

Chapter 115: Throwing the fight

“Really?” Kyle asked with raised brows. “What makes you so sure?”

“I consider myself something of an expert of history before the fall of man. I was fascinated by the things we used to be able to do, and I’ve spent years of my life scouring every mention I could find of that bygone era.” Garth set up his backstory.

“And you recreated some object that gives you the godlike power of the ancients? Flying through the sky? Killing a man at fifty feet with nothing but a s...

Chapter 113: Playing with the Rules

Garth couldn’t help giggling as he climbed to his feet. Luckily his skull hadn’t put a dent in the wall, so nobody would think he hit it hard enough to kill somebody.

“Ms. Denton!” The teacher shouted from the front, breaking the silence. “This is-“

“No, No, it’s okay!” Garth said, levering himself up off the wall. “It was my fault. I was way out of line.” Which was true. Maybe the spirit of being a cavalier devil-may-care teenager had gotten the better of him. View Post

Chapter 111: Hardball

Garth slapped a hand over his neck, stumbling backwards. Two of the many things about throat-cutting that Hollywod gets wrong is that it’s not instant death, and the coughing.

Garth violently coughed up a spoonful of blood that managed to seep through the nick in his windpipe before it sealed itself. Thankfully the Barkskin had mitigated some of the damage, so she hadn’t gotten a good cut on his major veins. That and they were…a little tougher than human veins, care of Garth R...

Alicia inhaled, turning over in bed and stretching against the soft linens. Every muscle in her body was singing with pleasure. “What is this?” Paul asked, jamming the opened book into Bertrand the historian’s face. The word Phytomagus was underlined, severely reducing the value of the hand-written text.

“Phytomagus?” The historian asked, frowning. He had a shock of unruly white hair and a face that was so droopy it looked liable to slide off his skull.

“Yes, there’s only one reference to it in the book, attributing it to some of Garth’s followers.”

“So now you’re telling me that the official tax rate is 98.5%?” Garth asked the sweating clerk. The skinny man with bulging eyes nodded emphatically.

That explains why smuggling the adamantium out is so goddamn profitable. Shove a single crystal up your butt duty free, and it’s the same as carrying more than fifty out the front gate with you. If every mine of every planet was taxed similarly, were they building bedpans and sidewalks out of adamantium in the Core?

Core Mech suits?

I just realized that with the Core taxing the rare mineral trade so heavily, across literally trillions of worlds, they would have the stuff coming out of their ears.

I was thinking of ways for them to use it all, and... would you like Garth to fight against magical mech suits made out of adamantium and mithril sometime in the future?

This would be an elite punitive force sent by the Inner cores in the distant future.
