This is one of the foundational ways to play guitar or bass melodically and harmonically at the same time. Practice this to get runs and scales while holding sustained notes at the same time <3

Hey friends. Some of you might have heard this song already on my Charles Jacques IG. If this is new to you, I collaborated with my friend Oritsé Williams and made this song about what is happening right now and the struggle of the black community, the death of George Floyd and the countless others. Making this song has helped me empathize so much with the movement. I hope it makes you feel something too.

The dimished scale is craaaaazy. The things you can do with its symmetry, just wow. Here's a great full diminished chord shape for guitar that you can move around and get those jazz vibes
Note: these lessons are intended to work for bass, or guitar tuned in all fourths (E A D G C F)

More of those jazzy buttery vibes. Now we working on moving through inversions with the right hand to create movement within a harmony. Like rotating a shape up and down. Feels good, sounds good. Enjoy friends :)

Here's something I filmed for Ableton. This was fun to play, it's the easy going simplicity that I love so much about Push

Continuing off what we were just talking about in my last piano vid, but now let's try it on the guitar. Here's a few easy 7th voicings that we can move around and easily drip the root down so that we get that beautiful common tonality with the the 3rd and 7th of each chord. LOVE IT.

This is like, the dream with Push playing. Being able to lay down smooth chords with the left hand while gracefully floating with the right, god damn. I'm still working on this myself. Here's the next level from last week, we've got a few more chords and playing around with borrowed chords too, to give it that major/minor drip. Enjoy yall

These two chords go together like jam and butter. They sound so good, and share the two most special notes with eachother: The third and 7th. It's amazing how the minor 3rd and 7th of Dminor becomes the major third and major 7th of Dbmajor, and the sound is just as enchanting. Enjoy this simple but powerful harmonic trick

Hey everyone, happy April. Hope everyone is physically and mentally healthy and feeling inspoired.
Here's more on putting both hands together to get that full music spectrum, from drippy chords in the left hand to floaty melodic sprinkles up in the right hand

Some of yall who know my music will recognize this sound. I use this progression all the time in my harmony, I find it to be so drippy and graceful yet expressive and cool and just modern sounding. Enjoy this lil ii V I variation turnaround
