One thing that I have been really thinking about is the smithing aspect. Your protagonist is a blacksmith, so I think that should be a pretty core component.
The main aspect of smithing will be for creating/upgrading weapons & armour.
So this is where I am at a bit of a crossroads for chest loot/rewards.

So one aspect I want to add whilst exploring is dangerous Flora, to make exploring a little more Dangerous. This is what I was thinking for each Element:
Nature - Good ol' Vine whip - get to close, you're going to get smacked
Fire - slow but heat seeking fire sprites that will dissipate after a time
Ice - Will shoot ice daggers into the air as a warning to give you then a chance to prepare and dodge, then quickly fly into your direction

I wanted to do a poll about Side Quests, I feel as though it can be hard to incentivize and finding reasons to do Side quests the further into a game you get especially if the rewards themselves are things you can get easily elsewhere (Money, EXP, materials etc.)
