Neon Bruises (Pride Month Story)

On a cyberpunk exoplanet in the far future, a transgender she-wolf joins an illegal fighting tournament to keep her home, but at what cost?

To celebrate Pride Month, I wrote a short story that serves as a standalone prequel for an upcoming projects. As a bonus, you can also read along to this story by listening to Rhythm Bastard's narration on The Voice of Dog podcast. Links to Part 1 and Part 2 are down below!

How did you first celebrate Pride Month?

Happy Pride Month, everyone! I hope you're all doing well? Thinking back on how far the LGBTQAI+ community has come so far in the past few decades, and how far we still have to go to be treated equally under the law and society in general, it is still amazing to look back.

Here's my question for this week: how did you first celebrate Pride Month?

For me, I attended a pride celebration in either 2017 or 2018. It had everything standard, from the lively music and people to the smal...

Loving Kiss at Twilight (Art Commission by Peritian)

What better way to begin Pride Month by sharing this incredible art commission by Peritian? They did a spectacular job drawing the star-crossed protagonists of the award-nominated book "Two Souls of Fangcrest Manor" by myself and Fruitz, a supernatural historical romance involving reincarnation and ghosts.

What is the worst movie you’ve seen?

When it comes to movies, I don’t try to seek out bad ones unless they’re enjoyable or circumstances force me to. With that said, if I had to make a choice on what the worst movie I’ve watched is…it has to be “Don’t Look Up” on Netflix.

The entire film feels like a Simpsons episode script that’s been rewritten by the reboot version of Velma. That’s the best way I can describe it. It’s not funny, has unlikeable characters, it’s pretentious as Hell, the premise is on...

This is for a writing challenge in a Telegram group I joined (link here if you're interested: https://t.me/joinchat/TXMB1RU1ETeKOakg). At just over a thousand words, we would write a short story fitting a chosen theme. The new theme for this week is, "There is no misunderstanding...I hate you."

Another Zack Leander story! Is it me or does Zack really need to cut back on the drinking? And what's this? A cameo?...

Vintage items you wish would return?

Let’s face it: everyone is nostalgic for the past. No matter what your background is or how rich you are or what your political ideology is, it seems that nostalgia is always a part of life. For me, if there was one vintage item I wish would make a comeback, and then it would have to be VHS tapes.

I know, I know. They are incredibly outdated nowadays. However, there is something about physically holding a cassette tape or a VCR recording of a movie that is incredible compar...

Do you read fanfiction?

I read fanfiction. Mostly, I read “Balto” and “Naruto” fanfiction when I was in high school going into college. Nowadays, I’ll look up a random piece of fanfiction depending on what I’m watching. Most of the time, it’s your standard fanfic you find on the Internet, but every once in a while, I’ve found something so well-plotted and well-written that I question if the original creator actually wrote it as opposed to a fan.

How about you? Do you read fanfiction? If so, wha...

What movie scene scared you as a little kid?

I wasn’t immune to watching films that had dark themes or scenes in them. If I had to pick and choose the different choices though, I would have to make it a tie between two scenes from “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” and “Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom”. I think you can figure out which infamous scenes I’m referring to, but in case you don’t…

In “Willy Wonka”, I was absolutely terrified of the tunnel scene, after Augustus Gloop’s song. Between th...

What furry media introduced you to the fandom?

When I say ‘furry media’, I’m not referring to childhood films or animation like Robin Hood from Disney. I’m talking about stuff made by furries for furries, like Kyell Gold novels or webcomics. What furry media caused me to discover the furry fandom?

If memory serves me right, it was “Closet Coon”, a furry webcomic that I discovered on a YouTube video by accident. I just remember connecting with the writing and the cute illustrations so well that I couldn’t stop reading a...

Greymuzzles, what do you remember about the early fandom?

I'm not a greymuzzle, but even I can recognize that the furry fandom has changed greatly since the World Wide Web has shaped our own society. I can't even imagine what it was like to be a furry, or a fursuiter, in the age of pre-Internet fandom. Before there was FurAffinity, before there was Twitter (I'm still never calling it X, Elon), before SoFurry, or before YouTube. If I could turn back time and see an aspect of the early fandom, I would've loved to see the MUCKs.

If you're unawar...

The Little Stuffed Gray Fox

What happens to our toys when we grow up?

The idea came to me while looking through an antique shop, and seeing on the shelves various stuffed animals that likely belonged to little children. Or were childhood mementoes.

I hope you enjoy, and don't forget to leave a comment to tell me what you think!

What influenced your fursona? Your username?

As furries, most of us identify ourselves through our fursonas. A good portion of the time, it's based on our favorite animal(s) while growing up. For me, my favorite animal has to be the Timber Wolf, and the movie that influenced me the most in my fursona has to be "Balto". My first drawing of my fursona actually was a feral template I grew back in early high school, when I was only just discovering the furry fandom as well as trying to make a writing pseudonym for myself. Attached is that s...

What do you like seeing on Patreon?

I like to see various content on Patreon, and it depends mostly on who I want to support. I like reading short stories, full-chapter novels, story series, and comics. I also love looking at artwork too. It's especially fun to see all of this weeks before they're made public. Most of it is NSFW, but it isn't always exclusive. I like reading or looking at SFW Patreon content too.

What about you? What type of content do you like seeing the most on Patreon?

Who's your Furry Waifu/Husbando?

Let's face it. The furry fandom is a THIRSTY community. The online fandom cannot go two or three months without welcoming a new fictional character to our tier list of anthropomorphic animals who make us feel like lovestruck teenagers falling in love. Every generation has their one waifu/husbando, or multiple ones, that we can't help but obsess over.

My furry husbando is a two-way tie between Disney's titular Robin Hood, as well as the animated protagonist from "Balto". Both are obviou...

Which Fictional Setting Would You Live In?

If you had the ability to be teleported to any fictional setting in the world, be it in literature, films, comics, manga anime, TV shows, etc., where would you go?

Me? I am torn between the Star Wars universe and any of the settings from Studio Ghibli films (maybe Kiki's Delivery Service), because they seem like fun, adventurous places to live in while having an edge to them. I'd especially love to either own a spaceship to live in while traveling between Coruscant or Naboo. Or just liv...
