[TEA] 13. Boars? More like Boring!

It took his Eternal Regeneration a good hour to get his arm back into fighting shape, and by that time Asher was practically bouncing on the balls of his feet, more than ready for round two. He’d been so focused on experimenting with his new Distortion skill that he hadn’t really felt the thrill of battle he’d become so enamored with while fighting the demon.

After a brief trip wandering the meadow in search of a new heavy boar, he finally found one grazing on a particularly large...

[TEA] 12. A Man and his Stick

If I were a bloodthirsty boar, where would I hide? Double checking the map Samantha had lent him, Asher confirmed he was in the right area before storing it back into his rift. It was apparently an old gift from her father, and he didn’t want anything bad happening to it while he was fighting.

After a light dinner and some much needed sleep, Asher had decided to spend his first day in the village working on his skills and earning some shards. He was so close to being able to ...

[TEA] 11. Homecoming

The next few days were filled with quiet conversation and subtle training on Asher’s part. The closer they got to the village, the less strict Samantha was regarding her brother keeping silent, and Asher quickly discovered that if there was one thing Brian loved even more than his own sister, it was talking.

Asher learned about Brian’s favorite foods, his friends in the village, that time he swore he saw a griffin rider fly over their village, his dreams of becoming a deadly hunter ...

[TEA] 10. Easy Come Easy Go

Thanks to Samantha’s skill and her obvious experience, the three of them managed to avoid anything particularly dangerous that first day as they made their way through the forest. They did encounter a small pack of wolves at one point and a large monkey looking creature with four arms at another, but both times Samantha managed to scare them off with a well-placed shot from her new bow. At the rate they were going Asher had been expecting to make it out of the forest in no time at all, whic...

[TEA] 9. No Shiny Left Behind

Before returning to his comrades waiting down below, there was one quick stop Asher wanted to make. Running up the stairs despite knowing there wasn’t a giant demon chasing him any longer, Asher quickly found the grisly scene of Mr. Sonth’s death. He wasn’t interested in anything the alchemist may have had on him, but he was certainly interested in that.

Asher found himself standing in front of the hovering orb of fractured glass, staring into the shimmering violet ball. ...

[TEA] 8. Fight to the Death

At this point, Asher was pretty sure of two different things. The stairwell was cramped enough that if he didn’t find a more open space to fight the demon he wouldn’t last two seconds, and that the demon was far more interested in him than his companions. He hadn’t really followed much of what the demon had been mumbling to itself, but he got the sense that the Eternity element he’d picked up was something special, and that the wizard that had kidnapped him had some sort of method for...

[TEA] 7. Is Now Really The Best Time?

“Asher, I can’t accept this,” Samantha said, staring at the bow in her hands like it was a newborn child. “Brian and I already owe you too much, and now you’re trying to give me an enchanted bow? These arrows alone are worth more shards than I make in a year!”

“You can repay me by making sure we get out of this tower alive,” Asher said, handing out the maces to the rest of the group. Brian’s face lit up as he swung the mace around like a baseball bat, clearly ...

[TEA] 6. Shopping Spree

After informing Samantha about the demon guarding the probable key to their cells, the woman sighed, leaning back against the stone wall.

“I know this is a lot to ask after all you’ve already done for us, but is there any chance you could defeat the demon and retrieve the key? Clearly you know how to fight,” she said, gesturing to the three dead imps. “Are you a slayer or something?”

Slayer, huh? I wonder if that’s one of the classes this world seems to have, like ...

[TEA] 5. Fellow Prisoners

Asher spun around, shocked to find himself face to face with a young boy. The boy was absolutely covered in filth, and based on his emaciated frame, he looked as though he hadn’t had a proper meal in weeks. Gripping the bars so hard his knuckles were white, the boy stared at him with both fear and hope in his eyes, clearly desperate.

[TEA] 4. An Eye for Violence

Crashing to the floor in a tangle of limbs, it took Asher a second to realize what he’d done. Looking into the wide, black eyes staring up at him in shock, he recoiled, shoving himself off the demon and stumbling back to take in his surroundings.

This room he’d landed in looked like some sort of alchemical workshop. There were cauldrons lining the walls and shelves of strange materials containing everything from dried animal parts to glowing herbs, most of them giving off all sorts ...

[TEA] 3. Skeletons in the Closet

Groaning, Asher massaged his calves and hissed through clenched teeth as he experienced the worst charley horse of his life. He’d never really had the time or the inclination to work out back on Earth, and he was paying dearly for that decision now. Straining his body in order to use Astral Dip after sprinting up so many stairs had clearly been too much for his poor muscles.

If I get out of this blasted tower alive, I swear I’ll pick up jogging or something

[TEA] 2. Knowledge is Power

The first thing Asher discovered when he left the room he’d been summoned to was that wizards seemed to have the same sense of style in this world as they did in books back home. Rather than any fancy carpets or expensive artwork, as far as he could tell the entire tower seemed to be nothing more than hewn stone and lit torches. There wasn’t an ounce of personality anywhere, and frankly, Asher felt sorry for his undead kidnapper more than anything as he roamed around in search of an exit....

[TEA] 1. Quite Talkative for a Dead Guy

The chimes from the ornate grandfather clock signaled midnight, and Asher found himself once again face-to-face with the decaying corpse of an elderly man. The man in question had been dumped unceremoniously upon the large table, and his glassy eyes seemed to penetrate Asher’s very soul as the dead man stared unblinking up at him.

“God damn it, Tyler! You were supposed to have the eye caps placed on Mr. Royar and be finished preparing him by now!” Asher called out, his voice echoi...

New Book Update! (The Eternal Assassin)

Hello everyone! I mentioned this in an update the other day, but I am finally dropping chapters of my newest story on Royal Road! The story is called The Eternal Assassin, and if you couldn't guess from the title alone, it is going to be a tad different in tone compared to Explorer of Edregon (mainly in the form of a main character who has something of a love for fighting other people, and that this story actually has some focus on romance).

I decided to just keep things simple and add ...

Other than a quick break to grab dinner and run back to his room before anyone tried to talk to him, Vin spent the rest of the day working on his latest project, thankfully managing to finally figure out the runic formation just before bed. Forgoing one night of sleep wasn’t too bad, but he started feeling a bit groggy if he skipped two nights in a row.

Instead, the group made it to the desert fragment without a single incident. Never before had Vin been so ecstatic to see miles upon miles of burning sand, and he even welcomed the massive temper...

“So it works, but only for yes and no questions?” Spur asked, turning the gemstone every which way as he peered into its depths. “Do I even want to know how you got your hands on this?”

“I had to make a deal, which I’ll tell you about later,” Vin said, sounding just as tired as he felt.

After his exhausting conversation with Golrim yesterday, Vin had retreated to his own small concrete bunker and tried his best to distract himself with magic. Few things were qu...

As promised, Vin got Alka back to camp in time for dinner, if only just. He knew how much the Slayer enjoyed witnessing new methods of taking down monsters, and he did not want to be the reason she missed the demonstration of Alice’s new trap.

“Have fun breaking that news to Spur,” Alka snorted, lazily waving goodbye as she headed off in search of the Trapper. Sighing, Vin headed off to grab his own bite to eat from the mess area. Temporary seating for meals had been one of the fi...

After a few dozen dead scorpion monsters, a brief trip through the Underside, and a mad dash out of the insect dungeon and subsequent forest, the two of them found themselves at the edge of the infernals’ village once more.
