FILMMAKER REACTS: HALO 3 WE ARE ODST

The road to Halo 3 ODST has begun. I'm not going to lie, this is one of the best commercials I have ever seen and I will be using it when I teach college/university students, that's how good it is. The breakdown got me all excited! Lots to learn here and I'm going to explain why this cinematic hit as hard as it did. Let's go!

ALMOST TIME FOR THE GIVE AWAY

I'm currently going through test printing at the moment with the design, pushing for the best colours etc. This example shows me that the printing method I've selected is no good with glowing letters. I don't like the destructiveness of it so this will be removed in the final design however, it's totally worth it for that quality!

Back to back shoots - BTS

I had back to back shoots last week and this was a few stills from the different jobs. You sometimes have literally less than 24 hours to get yourself in the mind of the project aka film. 

The first one is more about following the storyboards and working out what the client has in their mind. You've been given the location and you don't see it until you're there. You then have to very quickly work out how to light it, figure out how to capture the shots they've come up with plus ad...

A message from the Director Halo 4:FUTD

Someone slid into my DM's this morning!! Turns out it was a message from the Director of Halo Forward Unto Dawn.

The reason I'm uploading this is I wanted to share with you that sometimes, when you make something or do something for others, you never know who's watching or how it can affect someone emotionally.  Thinking about making some art, video, a YouTube channel even?? Go for it! You never know.

BTS on day 3 | "Say that again... 4:30am START?!"

3 day shoot last week hence my schedule has been knocked about for YouTube. Normally I never get a chance to take photos especially on smaller crew shoots, as you can see in the photos, the clients are over my shoulder every few minutes! This time however, they had a crew member take a few snaps for their own social media. I asked if I could have some to share with you lovely peeps.

Not a lot can be shown but this is a few scenes from their film.

That Cinematic Look?

Hi guys, I was looking through some imagery of mine from last year and I came across this shot, I jokingly titled it the Star Wars shot.

This is quite simply just part of a tree branch but look how epic and beautiful it looks, could you imagine the power this image would have if it were a model/actor? I say this a lot in my breakdowns but the cinematic look really means a scene that is backlit. The key light (main source of light) is from behind the subject.
