Here I'm simplifying the background and keeping it to a few colours- where its actually quite colourful in the zoomed in panels. I hope it works! I think the room would be too hectic fully coloured with my bright cast and all the books and records!

Thanks for the patience during the last few weeks, I took a bit of time to plan the next chapter, and a week for my wrist to rest, and I'm so excited to get going again.  I'm sketching the next few pages at the moment, but there should be finished pages soon!

I love drawing kisses, learning to draw them took Years of bad kisses, however, I have finally reached the point where they don't just look like cardboard cutouts slotted together :P.

I actually washed the character tones out for a panel here, because it was drawing so much focus away from Marnie! Hopefully it works, haha

I was pretty worried about getting to Roman- I wasn't sure if I'd need to introduce a 3rd grey to add dimension to his face (I can shade the other two, but Romans skin is the darkest grey already)- but I think having it mostly dark with some of the lighter tone still conveys his colour without too much trouble ;;

Clothes Concepts- Chapter 4

Doing these always reminds me of doll dressup games :P

You can see I've gone pretty fancy with Julien's clothes here, for a particular event that I'm sure you can all guess ;). The others are quite simple, I'm trying to tone down the details since it makes them easier to read! Recently I've been trying to use a more limited pallette- using overlaps like Julien's jeans being the same colour as something else in the background etc. Here I'm overlapping more with the costume colours so the...

I didn't make a sketch at all for this page- the colour blocks worked as a rough outline for the final painting!

At first I had planned to have two smaller panels- one with the moon and some clouds in, and another with foliage, but as I painted the bricks I thought it'd be more interesting to have them blending into the night sky.  (I suppose that's a benefit of working without a sketch, ideas tend to bounce around more freely!)

Charity Case Ch3:Pg32 [Chapter End & some info!]

I realised in my sketchbook post that I said I'd continue to update Charity Case twice a week- and I'm not quite sure which dimension my brain was in when I said that, because it's the end of the chapter! Which means the $1 tier will get some concepts and process previously only available in the  $3 tier instead of pages, for the next few updates.

The $3 tier will get clothes and background concepts as I develop things ready for the next chapter. I have a few locations to nail down...

I sadly forgot to save the flat colour stage, however I did include a crop of whats hidden under the speech bubble in the first panel :3c 

(for...those not in the know, the babadook was claimed as a gay icon for a while and I think they'd absolutely cut a picture out of a magazine, Marnie is the biggest memelord.)

Also a heads up- for next month the sfw sketch content will probably be reduced, because I believe the anthology kickstarter will be running this month & I want to spend some time on public sketches to build hype for that!
I'll keep up posting 2+ pages of charity case a week, and there'll still be some exclusive sketches, along with (hopefully) some updates on Rose Tinted/the Sylvia+Jerry side comic.

Charity Case Ch3:Pg29 Process & hi-res

I majorly struggled to sort out the colours on this page! Canonically, the kitchen is olive green, and it's appeared in maybe 2-3 panels in the past, but it looked *so* ugly that I actually had to change it to a less jarring colour. It looks good as a stand-alone concept, but adding the characters in made the warm skin tones clash with the green, and the pink and mints in roman and marnies outfits really look bad :S. I decided on a blue because blue/yellow/orange/red is a really solid combo, ...

A little update- The next two pages are nearly finished, as is the monthly sketchbook, but I'm finding that I desperately need a weekend off, so I'll get back to work on monday! Hopefully the sketchbooks will be finished monday, and the pages shortly after. Thanks for the patience <3

Rose Tinted p2 and Maria p4 process

This is a new interface for image uploading- I hope it works once I post it haha!
I included the cafe photo I shamelessly ripped off for the establishing shot, because it...wasn't worth designing a cafe for one scene. Trying to remember that shortcuts are allowed :P

For the Harry Potter AU I decided to do the blacks with the inks, instead of separating the stages, and it felt a little more natural than adding in shadow afterwards (which is why there's less process!)

I spent a while on Jerrys expressions here, I really wanted to get across a sort of...pleased incredulity? It was super easy to slip over into angry and I hope I didn't! I worry because she's....being quite mean haha, but in a good way, for her ;).
