I can always use more Max practice. This little cutie is the bane of my existence with how often I fail to nail his cuteness. There's this balance I'm trying to achieve that's like... mature adorable femboy, but he often either looks too young, too mature, too manly, or I just get it wrong entirely and he ends up looking... just... wrong.
I think these ones turned out okay-ish.

Will this work? I dunno! Gonna feel this out for a bit and see how it does. I want to keep posting weekly sketches and sometimes biweekly sketches on weeks when I can't put out a full comic page, but I don't always have good ideas for them, especially like now when we're busy moving.

SO!!! it's April 5th all of a sudden, and we're moving this month. All of a sudden it just got TOO REAL. I've been saying that I kind of expected the last two weeks to be a hurricane of awful, and while we did some things to get ahead of it... it's here. We're all of a sudden down to the last 2 weeks and there's just SO SO much packing to do ...

Weekly Update - 56
HEY! We like, JUST got the notice of our official move date this morning. So I'll be checking out of this city in mid-late April and settling in to the new one just a little after my birthday.

Chapter 6 wound up being shorter than usual, but that's mostly because I divided up Chapter 5 so it wasn't stupidly long. I tend to prefer my chapter breaks to happen every 15-20 pages or so.... but it's kind of one of those things where the numbers are all just made up and they don't really matter. >.>

We finally have a date for moving! It's a tentative date, but that's still way better than a shrug and an IDK.
So we should be getting ready to do this whole crazy move thing approaching the end of April, which is only a couple of months later than I hoped, and one full month later than we thought.
So yay! Exciting stuff. We'll be moving just in time for my birthday.

I am exceedingly pleased with how this page turned out... and that I managed to get it out this week, even though I spent like 80% of the time working on that last panel.
There are plenty of mistakes all throughout, but I'm very, very happy with this. So I'm going to allow myself to enjoy it for now, and worry about correcting those mistakes on future pages. :P

I've decided that, since it's supposed to be a dark scene, characters eyes should probably glow a little brighter. I dunno, maybe I need to look up some videos about photography and cinematography at night so I can get a better idea of what to do to make it clear to the reader that this is taking place in the darkness. Most of them are crepuscular animals, so the darkness of night doesn't bother THEM all that much.
Also, yeah, it's kind of weird for Kiva's big pullover hoodi...

I was hoping we'd be moved by now, but we're still waiting for the home builders to give us a damn date. We've been slowly filling a few boxes here and there but there's been no urgency because we still don't know when the hell we can move. I'm pretty sick of waiting by this point. It really is going to be the sort of thing where no matter how well we tried to plan, everything that needs doing is going to be crammed into a hectic two-week long nightmare period.

This is a bit of a silly experiment, but I've been noticing lately that the more I draw Riley, the cuter Max seems to be getting. And I wasn't really sure why. Was it just an evolution of my style? Was I slowly unlocking mastery of the elements that make something look "cute" to me? Was it because I was drawing them too similarly? Or was it because of something else?
Riley is a challenge because a part of her visual design look is a bit creepy. She's meant to look cute... but also... a...

It's still just a sketch, with all the lack-of-polish intact throughout, but I felt like a lot of details got lost in the scaled-down version. Felt like it deserved a high-res version.
