August Update!

Hey everyone! 

As you might have noticed, I didn't accept payments again this month, and I won't be sending out any rewards. My apologies as I should have communicated this earileir; I kept meaning to but failing to find the time. This update is to explain what I have been up to, and to show some glimpses of some of the progress I've been making.

Rewards sent Tuesday/Wednesday

Hey guys! I have pretty much packaged up all the rewards and written up the read-mes (and those which are missing I'll take care of later tonight); the only thing missing now is the render(s) of the new animation, which I will have finished by Tuesday or Wednesday.

I fixed it all last week and got it working, but due to what seems to be a memory leak (or just an unstable file spitting our memory leak errors), I've only been able to render ~35 frames at a time, so its made it impossible to rend...

Monthly Update and Rewards

Switching payments on; rewards back on ^^

I just switched the monthly payments back on after a two month hiatus. I have finished animating a new 11 second shot with the new wolf character, and now I will be starting the painful dance of getting the cloth sim to work for it. At this stage I don't know if I will be sending rewards out on exactly the 5th, but if I am late, it won't be by much. I'm aiming hard to have it ready by then ^^.

I am leaving payments off for this month, as I’m super jetlagged, Renee's rigging has taken longer than I wanted, and the contractor I am working for has a major milestone due next week. Its an unholy trinity and would have been far too stressful for me to animate some new shots to deliver a decent reward within the next fortnight. So I'll be turning on payments next month. Just another quick update; my computer crashed again today so I had to re-render the last few frames.  Ill send the rewards once im back in NY and can render and compress the video. Which will be tomorrow night or Sunday, if I dint get home till very late.

Thanks for your patience; i wasnt expecting this render time blowout and constantly underestimated it once it arrived :o 

Another update

The  rewards will be sent out in a couple of days. My apologies for the serious lateness; it has been caused by an explosion in render times. Usually it takes about 20 minutes per frame, but these new shots have taken 1.5-2 hours. I'm not sure whats causing this blowout; i do notice that the cpu usage never goes above 25% anymore so it may be damaged hardware? Whatever the cause is its transitory as my new computer will be rendering future shots.

Hey all!

A quick update of where things are at for the last update; I've done everything I want to for the rewards, so it is now a matter of waiting for the renders to follow through. As for how long that will take; it will be this week, but I can't tell for sure. There are two new shots and the first one hasnt finished rendering yet after a week; so I don;t know how long the next one will take until I try it. I'll send links through once they are done though!

And the votes are in, and with a 49% voter participation you guys have spoken! In a nail biting, preference driven come from behind win, Wolf has won.

This the preferential system at work; although lizard got more votes by far, more people prefered the wolf. Once all of the split votes consolidated, it was a fairly comfortable 6% victory.

The REAL contest happened in round 8, with the final 3. Wolf beat fox by less than 3%; which is around 6 weighted votes. That is literally 2...

As you can see, Rub For More Wishes has won in a landslide. In a seven horse race, it dominated the first round and won almost all of the resulting preferences. I'm a bit of a stats nerd so having an option winning so convincingly is a bit anticlimactic, but on another level it is great that my supporters have largely galvanised behind a clear preference ^^.
