The Slime Caves Call

Now that I'm properly into working in Blender for both game models and 3d cutscenes, here's the cutscene that a certain character will wake up into! Its a sticky, slimy, cocoon-filled (and characters who are 'filled'!) installment that should be out for playtesting in just 2-3 days! (As long as I get the bugs worked out tomorrow night!)

COMING TO CAT/SUIT. 3D animated Cutscenes

I've been learning Blender's animation engine and building 3d models so that the cutscenes in Cat/Suit can eventually be half slideshow art, half 3d model scenes. Its actually one of the new Patreon reward tier items that I'll be introducing tonight, custom 3d character models at specific tiers. This is pretty rough animation I know, but this is more proof of concept than finished work yet. STILL. Its paving the way for bigger and better things!

So... there was a critical bug in the last build that while easy to fix, cascaded into other problems. I apologize about the hiccup. There's a bit more story now, a bit more stability, and while nothing on the front end is visible yet, I've been working extra hard on getting the enemy AI to behave and an inventory system set up. So this build... went through 5 different iterations. None of which I liked. And its definitely not 'done', but after you feel so much pressure to perform you just throw out what you have.

Chapter 1.2 Preview

Sorry about the wait for the build. The thing that has yet to be finished, which I've been really like... dragging my corpse across the floor to finish, is the dialogue. An extremely Lewd Build is coming...

I was pushing to have the next build done today, but it looks like it'll have to wait until tomorrow. I just don't think I'll be able to push it out tonight. HOWEVER, I can at least inform ya'll of what's coming.

Moving Forward (Now that the hardest part is done)

SO... that 2 months happened... Going from RPG maker to Unity took way more time and waaaaaaaay more effort than I thought. Thank you all for being so patient. Even having studied and following lessons and tutorials on Unity ahead of time, getting everything to work together and building the infrastructure of the game was incredibly time consuming.

Both the PC and MAC versions of the first build are up, fixed (Except for one small issue that will be fixed in the next build but won't interfere with this current build's play). The advantages of Unity... Double the size Sprites

While I'm fixing up final details (and I had to hide some of the battle sprites as they reveal Stray's surprise weapon) one of the advantages I can't blab about enough is Unity's process for handling and rendering sprites. Where as RPG maker is strictly pixel based, Unity uses 'Unity Units' which render sprites out pixel perfect at whatever size. 

What does that mean? ALL the assets can be twice as big and twice as detailed. For instance, Stray here.

The update is coming soon! Just have to get jumping to work

So I've been working with learning Unity for the last 4 months and working on making all made from scratch assets and all new tilesets and music for the Unity build of Cat/Suit. The demo of the new combat system, including action RPG combat, jumping, platforming, and Stray getting cocooned by vacweb spiders, is coming! ...just as soon as I can get Stray to platform jump as intended. The code works and she's jumping but the animations aren't playing. I'm hoping to have that worked out tomorrow...

Isometric Tease

Finally going to be showing some of the big changes coming to Cat/Suit. Namely, the fact that the entire game engine is changing, the whole game is going to be rebuilt, and everything will finally, as intended, be isometric tile based. Ok, this is a big disclaimer. For SOME REASON Princess's sprite keeps turning back out of being tied up, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I think I have to go back through the whole game to find one random stray command that's still overriding all commands that come after. Otherwise its an act of divine intervention that keeps switching her back.
