There there Carmen, don't feel sad!
This episode is acting as a setup for the next episode which will go more in-depth with the characters and have an actual story. Carmen is a bit more complex of a character than we've let on so far. She was a fan of the heroes for so long and then got powers of her own, so she could live the dream, only to doubt herself as it seems like her success doesn't feel earned.

I always like doing Ask the Cast pages, because they're easy and a fun way to interact with the fans! This one, I decided to have a little fun with some comedy and also tell the readers basically nothing. Is it lore? Is it foreshadowing? If you ask these questions you're thinking too hard about the comic.

So, this page is pretty straightforward, just Salvadora quickly getting the hang of her new powers, conveniently putting them to use for this episode's plot device. As with the previous page, I initially wrote it for Loa and Sunshine Savior, but we went with Xatra and Pulchritudinous instead.

Inside Scoop: Incredible Ice 8
The big change here was that Sunshine Savior and Loa, who were originally on this page because I wanted to include them and their winter costumes in this episode, were replaced by Pulchritudinous and Xatra, for better story continuity purposes.
Originally, I was going to have Salvadora just have her heat vision and use a throwaway line like "oh, I've always had this, I just never had to use it before" to explain my way out of her suddenly having heat vision, but I changed it to an event...
