Scraith Rukyr Ref - Finished!

Ahah! I should have posted this last week, whoops.

This ref is finally done! I had SO much fun figuring out this character, and I'm thrilled to say that the client was just as happy with the outcome as I am :D

Health update

Old Well - Scrapped Art

Nightstalkers!

I heard there's a new Fallout game coming! Are you excited? I'm kind of excited. 

The Fallout universe is not necessarily something I grew up with, but definitely something that I've always been really interested in. When I heard there was a new installment on the way, I had to celebrate somehow. 

If you're not familiar, Nightstalkers are the result of genetic tinkering, splicing rattlesnakes and coyotes together. In Fallout: New Vegas, they fit right in!

Scraith Commission - Colors

More progress on this! Squeezing in one more post before the month is out.

I realized like, right at the end, that both my monitor AND my art program's color profiles were all messed up, so had been using all the wrong colors the whole time. So guess who had to re-tool all of the colors right at the end, haha.

I am super super happy with this design. So far out of my usual fare, a great challenge. And I'm nearly done! Just a few finishing touches on the art, then I get to add text...

Grumpig & Girafarig!

I think I'm gonna have to do a fuller picture of Grumpig some time - it's another Pokemon with really really nice shapes. Giving it big balls was kind of an idle thought, but upon looking up actual pig testicles... yeah I guess it fits haha. They're fucking huge.

Granbull? Granboss!

This started as just another page of Pokemon sketches, where BusinessWolf suggested I draw a Granbull. A little more progress on the coyotes! I'm still so nervous about this piece ahhh. 

The gold shapes will be the pyrite/fool's gold. I definitely want these pieces, but maybe I'll add a few more to round things out.  I may change the eye expression of the top coyote, too.  Sill figuring out the finer details.

Goodra Goodles

I tried so hard to not fall in love with Goodra, you guys. A few years ago, when it was new, everyone was super into it, and there was so much art, and so much fuss, but I resisted.

Until last week, when I ask Skott what pokemon to draw, and that's exactly what he suggests!

Paige's Beads

I was going to save this for May, ahhhh I can't help myself. 

Here's another design! Trick me, Try me. I'm still working this one out.   Animals paired with rocks is quickly becoming a bit of a theme. Ereviim Chained

Ereviim having a less than stellar day.

I don't like how quiet I've been so far, so I'm gonna start sharing some more throwaway doodles I've done. This is from late last year.

Duke the Charizard turns up the heat! Yeah, I don't think the Haunter are really interested in helping Fernin out of this...

I think my favorite part of this one was the blue lighting under Charizard's wing. Light coming through things like membranes or other thin skin is called sub-surface scattering, and it's always so cool to see, and so satisfying to paint. Maybe I'll do some back-lit creatures to highlight it soon.

Fool's Gold - Initial Concepts

These were the ideas I went through while I tried to figure out what I wanted this design to look like. 

What I ended up with was so much different than where I began... I'm very glad I sat down and wen through these steps!

I still really enjoy attempt 2. I may recycle that for another design down the road. 

Fools Gold - Merchandise Design!

Ahhh, I'm really excited to share this!

This year, I'm going to start looking into more passive forms of income. First, and hopefully the easiest, is merchandise. 

This is going to be my first design, Fool's Gold! 

I'm really happy with this. So far there's not much personal symbolism in the design, but perhaps that will change as I work on it. All I know is that I couldn't think of any animal more fitting for this than a coyote.

Paige puts it away

Just for you guys at $3+ - I made the three toy sketches into a little animation!

How does it all fit, we'll never know. No way he's fitting that knot though.

I really enjoy working with Clip Stuido Paint's animation tools! There is a fairly steep learning curve for the UI itself, but once you get familiar, it's actually quite comfy. Being able to use my own brushes that already feel good to draw with is a huge plus.
