Updates 24/02/20

Howdy, y'all!

As you may have seen, the base demo has just been finished and uploaded for $10 Patrons.  This is the boss fight without any of the grabs that will be in the final fight, but is completely functional and playable from beginning to end. It also has controller support added!

Level 3 Bossfight BASE Demo

Here is the base demo for the level 3 bossfight, meaning that this is the boss fight without any of the grabs implemented. It does, however, have all of the moves you can expect to see in the finished fight, as well as a completed Game Over screen. 

In addition, from this point onward, the game has working controller support, for those who prefer that to mouse and keyboard.

Update 7/02/20

Hey everyone!

Just a quick update on the state of the game at the moment. Caramel has been giving me a LOT of issues and various vexing bugs, but as of about 5 minutes ago, the vast majority of her code is done. Now all I have to do is code Smiling Jacks's segment in the boss fight, which I don't forsee being particularly taxing, and send it off to my bugtesters (and work on the sound effects, music and the game over screen while they're testing). Hey everyone,

Just a quick update to let you all know where I'm at with the game progress and what you can expect coming up. At this point I have finished all the basic animations for the level three boss fight, which is to say, everything necessary to make it functionally playable, and so I am currently coding them into the game. Caramel Bellyflop

Still a lot to do on this, in particular a KO version and a version with Jacks on her back, but I'm pretty happy with how this came out, especially considering I try to avoid drawing perspective like this at all costs.

There will be more of this animation to come next week, and when that's all done, I can start coding the basic stuff into the game and get a basic (No grabs) demo out!

Caramel Uber Slam Hit

And the other half of the uber slam. I'll actually need to go back and fix up the miss one, because I noticed while doing this that her slide was far too long originally. 

Also, just a heads-up but there will be no streams next week. Just going to take the week off to help prevent the burn-out that I can feel building up. Hopefully we can get all of the basic animation stuff done by the end of the year though!

Caramel Uber Slam Miss

Sprint, leap, slam, slide. This will be Caramel's one-hit KO move. If Texas gets hit by that she's gonna be smeared across the ground by the titanic cow ass. There's no way even she could survive that.

But afterwards, Caramel will be exhausted, allowing Texas to knock Jacks off and beat her up, at least for a little bit.

Here's Smiling Jacks' basic attacks! More windup than most enemies, but Jacks isn't really a fighter. That's what she's got her animals for.  Still, she'll do her best, and will have a grab if that third attack hits. But we'll get to that when we get to that.

A bit more exciting now, as we have her attack, lassoed and run sprites. Also, I hate walking/running animations. This one took me two and a half hours of constant revisions before I was even slightly happy with it.

Caramel's Boring Sprites

So, with the completion of the background, we can get on to some animation, starting as always with the boring sprites: Walk cycles, idle animations, getting hit, getting thrown, etc, etc. The unremarkable stuff that all the enemies have. Luckily, Caramel doesn't have many of these, as she lacks a lot of behaviours the basic enemies have. Such as the ability to be thrown, lassoed, or sprint kicked.

Week's Break

With the demo released, I'm going to be taking a break from game work for a week, just to get some other bits and pieces in order, and also just to avoid burnout, which has been nipping at my heels for a while.
