A rare color process! And one that's pretty much complete, save for some minor warming of the colors I did in Photoshop!
This whole piece was pretty seamless and fun to work on. I sort of knew from the start what direction to take him in and as he's a pretty simple concept piece with a focus on the design, I didn't have to think too hard about the dynamics of it all. Just a nice, flowy, easy piece- need those to soothe the soul sometimes.

This was an interesting one, as it's the first reward that I've ever created an alt version of (cowl up or down). You can see both parts of the process towards the end.

I started this during the fanfest and finally got off the couch long enough to finish it. I'm not sure if I'll have the time to paint it - it might be something I pick up here and there when I have a minute or inspiration to do so. AAHHHH IT IS DONE! I told myself this one would be a quick and easy one and maybe quick, but hell if I didn't put my back into it. This is definitely my most dynamic piece to date, which is quite a nice project to end the 2020 commission batch on.

Following in the last piece I called "my most ambitious", comes this one - something so far out of my wheelhouse I now have dozens of pictures of myself holding brooms, sticks and hostages in an attempt to capture this very dynamic pose with some accuracy.

I think this is one of those timelapses in which you can see how painstaking the detailing of the armor and pose really was. I don't normally go through so many redraw phases so to give you an idea of what's going on in each stage:

The second mystery box is done! For this one I decided to go with a character "glow up". I aged her up a bit (she's originally 22) and gave her a brand new hair and outfit design. I also played around with the colors and texture a lot - keeping it simpler than the previous mystery box but still very vibrant and chromatic. (is that even a word who knows it is now)

Designed my very first dwarf from scratch! It was definitely an experience and despite never having done this sort of concept before, it was a whole lot of fun.

This is a part of the process I don't show often, and yet it's one of the most critical phases of any piece. It's also one of those things that I insist a lot on when teaching my artlings - thumbnail, iterate, sketch, draft! Don't commit to the first idea you draw - even if that ends up being the one you finally edcide on, do it from a bank of choices.

Been trying to hammer these out in between commissions as I do my best to meet all my deadlines, which is why I haven't had much time to post them all individually.
I have had a lot of fun with all of these though- and I really like how the really saturated plain backgrounds work against the bold lineart. I might continue in this style until I have a nice little rainbow of pieces!

I must say, I have never done anything as challenging at this piece. Not because of the piece itself, but because I've never worked on a high intensity commission while a mouthy potato chewed my toes off and pissed all over my rugs. I am so tired. @_@

I finished this piece a while back but couldn't post it publicly due to it being a gift from the commissioner to a friend.
This was a really interesting piece to work on. It's a FFXIV character, with an OC twist and an original outfit design. It's also a lineart piece, but I wanted to try something different to go with the shadow motif behind the character's story and I really like how it panned out.
