In the summer a line of Sleeping VOCALOID figurines were released, but they excluded KAITO and MEIKO. I Never posted it anywhere, but I was so miffed I drew this comic but never finished it. I forgot about it until a news page posted a promotional image!!
It took months but I’m so happy (and pleasantly surprised) they actually gave KAITO and MEIKO figurines!! (Grasping at crumbs here 😩🥹).

The many details were tricky to keep track of, but I had fun drawing the designs, especially MEIKO’s. Punk isn’t what I usually draw, so it was refreshing. ✍️
I also love the dynamic of girlboss pro wrestler and weak sports commentator man 😂❤️💙. I was sad these two never interacted in the MV so I wanted to draw a comp of them together 😁.

Is this a reflection of my first thought when the design came out? Maybe.. 😂.
For context: recently there was a Hatsune Miku x Pokémon collaboration. It got so popular that they decided to start including other Vocaloids in the collaboration. At the moment, only KAITO’s Pokémon design has been released. (I’m really hoping for a Fire Trainer MEIKO!! Or a MEIKO Pokémon design in general..) 🥹❤️

Finally colored it. Kaito is so clingy he would miss MEIKO’s warmth for even a few minutes when she leaves the bed to take care of business in the middle of the night.. 😂. MEIKO is aware of this and chides him for it from time to time, but ultimately finds it endearing and cute. 😊❤️
