Chapter 422 – 44th Floor (Part 2) – A Great Pit Of Despair

I quickly acted by twisting my body in the air and reaching out with my hand. This was not simple or easy to do. With only myself as leverage if I had to do this without prior experience there would be no way. But after all the mid-air fighting and training I had done, it only took a moment to twist my body in the direction I needed to be.

I moved my hand back and forth trying to guesstimate the exact spot it needed to be. It was going to be incredibly close. I needed to have my hand hi...

Delay

There is a delay for the next two chapters. No major errors in writing them, but the next scene required a lot of touchups and a bit of a rewrite. I apologize for this. As soon as they are ready, I will be posting them. Probably in a couple of hours. I got caught up in personal issues during the day, and left editing I should have done earlier to the last moment, which is 100% my fault.

Chapter LIII – Day 796 – Unending Rage

I looked at my melted throne. My hands clenched and unclenched at my hands. Dead. They were all dead. Some soldiers were kneeling behind me, but I did not know them. I did not care for them. My Envoy was dead. My Master Fleshcrafter was dead. My Inquisitor was dead. My son was taken. My Dragon Empire was falling apart.

Leaving the throne room, no one dared speak to me as I made my way into the inner sanctum of my palace. The door to my apartments was swiftly opened by a servant. I did n...

Chapter 421 – 44th Floor – Nulled Out

After resting up and getting mentally ready, I exited the safe room onto the forty fourth floor. I had no doubt it was going to be hell and I let out a sigh. Only this first section of passageway wasn’t a null skill passageway, the rest showed the lighted dots in the floor, walls, and ceiling which meant not being able to use skills.

I really hoped there were no pit traps. I advanced forward at my usual pace, checking over the portions of the floor as I advanced, checking for traps an...

Chapter 420 – 43rd Floor (Part 2) – Battle Unrelenting

“Fine!” I shouted and rushed forward. Sticky white goo was shot at me from the spiders and the boss spider was constantly moving away and staying in the edges of the room where there were null skill areas.

That was cheating. Acid Shot. Acid Shot. I began to close in on the level 4 monsters and disable them. One at a time while I kept dodging. Thankfully the white goo they shot turned to dust after 100 seconds or so. That meant they couldn’t completely cover the boss room....

Chapter 419 – 43rd Floor – Brisk Jog Blocked

After resting up in the safe room, I was mentally ready for the last run through this floor. I knew it would be hard, but I was prepared for whatever was thrown at me. I already had the route mapped out. Even with the increased traps, I wasn’t overly concerned.

I just needed to focus, pay attention, and disable the monsters as I came across them. With my packs secured, and my gut heaving, I left the safe room following the passage to the West. Acid Shot. Two crush traps and a...

Chapter 418 – 42nd Floor – The Start Of The Last Loop

Six. There were six level 5 monsters and forty-eight level 4 monsters chasing me about the floor. I had taken to disabling the level 4 monsters in the Southeast corner of the room, slowly increasing their numbers.

I had gotten a very good understanding of how much damage level 4 cubic golems could take before dusting. The trick was to hit them at a diagonal, or edge, about a third of the way up their side with a single Acid Shot.

They couldn’t launch a panel to defend t...

Chapter 417 – 15th Floor – It Gets Even Harder

Acid Shot. Acid Shot.I took out another level 4 cubic golem. These things were everywhere. If I wasn’t taking them out, I honestly thought they would begin forming walls to block me in. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought about disabling monsters earlier. While it wouldn’t stick for too long, it was more than enough time to get the golden key rod to open up the boss room.

I also noticed the monsters crossing blade traps without activating them. That was annoying. They didn...

High Priestess

I carefully observed Michael climbing up the tower. He was making good progress. I considered the exact timing and considered the Divine Empress. She was able to spot my spying and disrupt it when she noticed, which made it a lot more difficult.

While I had the backing of the Almighty System, it wasn’t that observant over everything all the time. It just noticed certain things at certain times. Tapping into it was exhausting as well, which was why...

Chapter 415 – 14th Floor (Part 2) – Furious Fighting

I rushed forward. The metal poles and the bullets came in a barrage, forcing me to dodge to the side since the golems were bad at tracking my movements, even the level 5 boss golems. There! I reversed directions as I crossed over a brief lull in their firing patterns.

The gap was small, but allowed me to approach closer as the monsters continued to attack me from range. Two of the smaller golems unleashed blades at waist height. I dodged under them and used my right hand to force me bac...

Chapter 414 – 14th Floor – Is This Possible?

I peaked out of the one way barrier from the safe room on the fourteenth floor. I paled. It was not good. I could basically see the entire floor and the elevator at the far corner in the distance. There was no keyhole on the room for the elevator.

There were no puzzle rooms. Instead, it was a big open area. In the center of the floor there were two sets of nine regular spawners and two boss spawners. It was a double boss battle with eighteen smaller monsters getting added into the fight...

Chapter 413 – 12th Floor – Speeding Up The Climb

The twelfth floor was one I needed to mentally prepare myself for. The fact of the matter was that, there were several pits and I couldn’t afford to waste the energy. What if those pit traps kept going and going?

I couldn’t afford to waste my energy on getting over each and every one. Air Burst cost me 800 energy per use and I only had 10,000 energy. That meant 12 uses of the skill. While it was a fair amount, if there was a gap of five or six pits, that would use up my ene...

Chapter LII – The Free City Of Hong Kong – Day 790

“Halt-“ I waved my hand and focused my energy. The guards were turned to dust at the gate into the city. I easily punched open the gate and killed anyone that came near me as I went towards the plaza.

Once there, I purchased clothing to wear. While I could run around naked, it was about having dignity and respect for oneself. But it was not a serious matter in my mind. A woman was approaching me. She appeared nervous, but I would gain some information from her.

I needed to con...

Chapter 412 – 9th Floor – Harder And Harder

The ninth-floor layout was the same as the second-floor layout. I traps I had missed on the second floor were silent saw blades that popped out instead of just regular cutting blades. There were more traps, but I didn’t spot any extra monsters or monster spawners.

What was concerning was that the null skill portions of the floor, were spreading out into the passages themselves. Once I reached floor forty four, it would be all saw traps and null skill flooring, perhaps both at once, wh...

Chapter LI – Day ??? – The End Of The Endless Battle

I had been drawing in energy to support myself. Knowing what bits to take in and what to discard to fuel during the constant combat. The knowledge I had chosen was invaluable. It allowed me to supplement myself and to keep pushing in the constant combat against the Flame Scorcher of Fire and Destruction.

There was only combat. I fought and fought, cleaving my way into the zone. This monster wanted to fight me, then I would teach it a lesson and learn its secrets. Blades of fire swept pa...

Chapter 411 – 7th Floor – Why Puzzles?

In the seventh puzzle on the seventh floor, I looked at the mostly empty room. It appeared to take up the space for the eighth room as well. The only thing in this very large room, were a series of levers like the acid puzzle rooms and six elevated squares in the center of the room.

I pulled a lever slightly and in one of those squares various blocks rose up. I pulled more levers and quickly realized these were meant to be the maps of the previous floors, possibly. Or something else, I ...

Chapter 410 – 6th Floor – Aggravation Of A Donkey

The Invisible Centipede Golem, appeared to be content to dodge and hide once it had recovered. I kept chasing after it, getting more reckless each attempt, but it refused to fight. If this was a game, then I would have uninstalled it out of sheer rage at this point.

Unfortunately it wasn’t a game, and I had to find some way to kill a boss monster, that didn’t want to fight. Whatever tactic it was using, was probably, wait until I sleep or relax, then ambush me. I wasn’t about to l...

Chapter 409 – 5th Floor – Tough Monsters

The large golem rushed me again, and I dodged out of the way, easily kicking off the floor. It swiped out with its hammer, but that was what I was waiting for.

Acid Shot. The shield of the monster was brought around to block my attack. Air Burst. Air Burst. Using my movement skill twice, I quickly circled around the Human Hammer Golem at close range, moving to my right and to the monster’s left which was the side it held the shield. It was fast at adjusting and movin...

Chapter 408 – 4th Floor (Part 2) – A Big Cat

I did my usual pack tossing aside right after I entered the boss room and the door shut. No need to risk my supplies during the fight and encumber myself. The red-light walls around the boss spawner rose up and I got mentally ready.

Acid Shot. Acid Shot.Opening with my standard and then immediately moving, the boss monster dodged and moved quickly as well. It was a large silver cat. About the size of a small car, or a tiger on some serious steroids.

It was a quick monster...

Chapter 407 – 4th Floor – Suffering

I got up refreshed and had a piece of fruit, and stretched out before I made my way into the hell that was the fourth floor. After the previous floors, I didn’t want to think what 50 levels of this hell was truly like and could only do one floor at a time.

Leaving the safe room to the North, I was instantly ready for the lights to turn red and they did. Unlike the last couple of floors there was no time given after crossing the one way barrier. I had noticed the immediate intersection...

Chapter 406 – 3rd Floor – Crushing

I woke up. I had no idea what day or time it was. I had lost all sense of that and my brain couldn’t afford the mental space to try and keep track of the time. Keeping track of the layout of the floors and what floor I was on, was more than enough headache.

Stretching out, I then had a piece of fruit afterwards. Time to get floor three done and keep up my ascent. I couldn’t afford to sit around. After the first two floors and both those bosses, I wasn’t too worried.

I put on...

Chapter 405 – 2nd Floor (Part 2) – A Grueling Boss

The dark red-light walls disappeared or dropped so quickly it didn’t make a difference. Acid Shot. Acid Shot. I was already moving as my attacks were aimed at the floating sphere. About the size of a beach ball. It was a silvery color just like all the other golems and monsters that came from the tower.

The acid attack was stopped in mid-air and fell to the ground. I could see a sphere of energy around the boss. Not so much energy as just the complete repulsion of energy in t...

Chapter 404 – 2nd Floor – Intense Pressure

After my short break and getting back my energy, I put on my two packs and left the room. The barrier was just like the barrier for the City Shield. One way. I was in the Northeast corner of the tower and the tunnel turned to the West. It was long, about two thirds of the tower if I had to guess with several branching paths.

I began to walk down it, and after only a couple of tunnel units, the lights switched from blue to red. “Oh come on!” I complained. It appeared the first floor ...

Chapter 403 – 1st Floor (Part 3) – A Door

The Southeast portion of the tower was a maze with nothing there besides a glowing square outline and three blade traps. It was quite frustrating to be honest, but my pace continued to pick as I gained more and more confidence on this level.

My main worry were traps that I missed. That was why I was carefully checking each and every wall, floor, and ceiling as I advanced. That was the main thing slowing me down at the moment. I made my way back to the no skill central room and then turn...

Chapter L – Day 680 – The Count Is Two

The molten rock exploded around me as I took out another of the level 6 monsters. It had been four days of non-stop fighting. A beam cut through the area and I twisted out of the way landing on a slightly cooled piece of rock. I pushed out energy from my feet so they didn’t burn.

I was slowly recovering energy and healing, but it was a struggle with the level 7 monster constantly trying to vaporize me. I had picked up my speed killing the level 6 monsters and now I had finally managed...

Chapter 402 – 1st Floor (Part 2)

I didn’t go to the room right away. I checked the nearby passages. All turned into dead ends quickly except the two to the right when I had entered. Since everything was laid out in a grid and I had entered from the West, I needed to think of things in terms of North, East, South, and West.

The room was to the East. I went back to the passage leading to the room and looked inside at a distance. The golden looking rod was just sitting on the pedestal. Nothing had shown up nearby and I ...

Chapter XLIX – Day 676 (Part 2) – The Moltenlands

I didn’t pass out. I refused to and my body obeyed. I had survived the blast somehow and the trap the Homunculus had set for me. The Astrologer would pay the price, but I had to survive first. I had been hit while I had been leaping over the wall. I had been flying through the air for a while. My eyelids were seared shut.

I reached up with one shaky hand as the air rushed by me and forced my eye open. My heart almost stopped as I saw the inky blackness of the void beneath me. But then...

Chapter 401 – 1st Floor

I woke up to a soft blue glow. It took me a moment to place where I was. I was inside the tower to the East of Heaven where the Astrologer was trapped on the 49th Floor. I had escaped the Divine Empress by fleeing into the tower, but she had managed to vaporize my hand before the doors shut.

Now I had to climb the tower with only my right hand, a pack of supplies, and a bomb waiting to explode in my gut. I raised up the stump of my left hand and let out a sigh. I had been an idiot tryin...
