My Son Justin,
Congratulations on graduating from the College. I regret not being able to make it. The campaign increases in intensity. The human nations are pushing back against my invasion, thinking that they will drag me down.
But such tactics do not matter. I have a deep understanding of war and will triumph soon enough. Already the weaker nations tremble at the army I am building and are looking at surrendering.
Perhaps in the next decade ...

"Eh, no one again, just you," Professor Kratus said with a shake of his head and a frown on his face.
"Probably all working on skill levels," I suggested.
"Bah! Skill levels — there is no skill for common sense. Sure, there is Critical Thinking, but most people don't realize what it does. It allows you to think rapidly in short bursts when there is a lot of pressure, like in a fight. But it doesn't make you smarter. What do you know about the stat Focus?"
"It allows one to...

I didn't indulge in sparring often, especially now that I needed to get as many skill levels as possible. But I needed a distraction after the bad news Healer Melon had given me. My progress in my skills was stagnating.
A sparring match costs six gold for an hour session. Payment was made to an independent healer, who also served as a referee, as well as for a legend's time. Ozy wasn't taking part, since that would be too great a risk. Alchemical Bounded Field was an incredibly powerful...

“Fire, flank teams!” Kill Blade shouted over the chaos of battle. His commands were quickly relayed to the appropriate teams Cannons on the flanks fired. The NPC team hunkered down behind a wall of golems as they were forced to stop moving due to the intensity of the fire power being unleashed.
They would only take some minor damage from such attacks, but the goal was to pin them in place. I didn’t want to think what that cannon fire was costing. It was better not to think of the ...

"I looked into the concept of a homunculus," Healer Melon began, his voice trailing off.
It was hard to suppress the hope I was feeling at hearing that. "And what do you think?"
"It can work. Smaller-scale experiments have showed that they work with tier 3 curse skills and below.
"But nothing with tier 4 or tier 5?"
"How it would all work is the same, but the homunculus needs to have a stronger body and a higher Mana density. That means carefully growing it over time, ...

"Welcome to a general knowledge lecture, open to students who make it to their final year. I am Professor Kratus and oversee general research into the System on an overarching level. This means looking at large datasets and other complicated factors that go into leveling, classes, skills, and the System itself. Things that can hide in plain sight often reveal themselves."
There was nobody else here. I was the only one attending the lecture. I guess they were all busy working on skills a...

"You have done well on the war mech project," my father said.
He had made a rare visit to the College to check on our massive investment in technology. While the dwarves were naturally untrustworthy, their technological ability was second to none.
"We are carefully tracking its skills. Only time will show if it was a wise investment." I wasn't sure about the entire project. The depths were unpredictable. But there was a massive gap between the ...

I carefully wrote the runic symbols onto the specially prepared piece of paper. They were called tags since they were used by placing them on a target.
They were worthless against more powerful monsters, which could control their Mana above the surface of their body to disrupt them.
The runic tags were also incredibly fragile since they were being written on paper and not in metal. But tags were an excellent tool to work with as an intermediary weapon. If I needed explosions, mist...

“Ready to get spanked again, Foxy?” Whiterose Everbloom asked imperiously as she towered above me on the battlefield on a large root. Explosions occurred as monsters were blown apart by the artillery mages. Support personnel were boosting our long range fire teams so they could hit above their level.
Anti-spawn flares shot up into the sky above the battlefield. That would help limit the number of variables my army was forced to deal with. I watched as the high level NPC teleported a...

"Bah!" I cast aside the corpse. Another useless lead, another dead end. I focused and waved my hand. The Dark Library was being difficult. It would suffer. It had retreated into the dungeon, and I didn't have Blood Gore on call for some help quickly moving through the layers.
I was skilled, but my skills had a certain flavor that wasn't meant for hordes of monsters. I had come across a legendary adventurer here on the 22nd layer. Now they were dead ...

"Primary engine stable." At least the voice had quieted down. Several of the observing dwarves began clapping. I noticed a faint trail of yellow smoke coming out the back.
"Mana flow stable. Efficiency holds at 99.93%. Activating war mech core. Opening primary and secondary Mana channels."
I did not know what the specifics meant, but it was interesting. I had some guesses, but I could ask later if they were important.

"Hello team," April greeted us as we arrived outside the College in a barren field. It made sense that the College wouldn't allow a weapon's test from the large war mech. The war mech stood around 8 meters tall, the height of four people.
It was humanoid-shaped with two legs and two arms; however it was very squat. The legs were fairly short, and the arms weren't much better. The main torso could only be described as thick. There was an armored head on top. I noted a large mace on the w...

Baron Hayfield looked incredibly concerned about recent developments. “Are you planning to depart?” he asked nervously.
“How many war merits have we earned?” I asked.
“Only a couple hundred,” Kill Blade answered. Fire and magical gunfire continued to rain down on the forest and monsters along with the actual rain. Whiterose had pulled back completely.
“She is fighting defensively. We can’t win.” This was the kind of black zone I wanted to avoid previously. ...

My Son,
The campaign goes well. Already we have secured critical provinces on the continent. My new system of tripartite government has proven successful in delegation, control, and managing the group of legends under my command.
But I know you are not interested in any of that. I was surprised when you asked about social skills. I am glad you are taking an interest, even if you are growing older. You have enough of a foundation that you won't be completely h...

“Ack!” The Librarian coughed up a torrent of blood as the bubble of space shook. The demon Agares prowled around the outside of our sealed off area of safety. The demon was completely unharmed. The blood on his clothing and face was from us, not him unfortunately.

I looked over the message that had come up from the Last Bastion. Elena was supposedly dead from a demon residing in the 26th layer. By now the news had traveled far and wide. The greatest team composed of Supreme Legends, including my wife, had perished.
Even with my experience and knowledge, I couldn’t say for sure if she was alive or dead. If anyone could survive, it would be her with how versatile being a spellblade truly was...

“Take a look,” Healer Melon told me and handed me the College’s newspaper. It wasn’t cheap, but if someone wanted to stay up to date on important news it was useful. I normally didn’t bother reading it, since I didn’t want to deal with drama outside of my classes and my personal issues.
Other people’s problems weren’t my problems. I took the newspaper and looked it over.

It was a couple of days after the public ceremony commemorating the life of The Mathemancer and the other Supreme Legends who had perished on the 26th layer of the dungeon. I had sat quietly up at the front of all the guests for the ceremony while countless people had stared at me.
It hadn’t been comfortable, sitting up there in front of people. But there was a statue commissioned. The Mathemancer in the front of course even if that made no sense, with the other three supreme legends ...

I put my hands on the golden pillar. I selected to initiate a vote. I had the votes, which were stupid. I then selected the option for the ranking list. I then paid one trillion points to purchase it. Time to see if the hype I had built up regarding the ranking list mattered. I didn’t think it would. I had been disappointed too many times in the past.
Touching the pillar, the information was put directly in my mind. It would stay for a day before resetting.

I was eating dinner with Healer Melon at one of the restaurants around the College. I liked looking over the edge. The view was growing on me, and it felt calming. Like I was above everything else and could fly away from my problems.
