As you may have noticed I mostly create images in square format because it's a good compromise—it looks decent on both mobile and desktop/tablet. However, it's not the ideal format for either. The best format for desktop/tablet is horizontal (landscape), while for mobile, vertical (portrait) works best.
I still do some vertical or horizontal images depending on the picture and often use those...
