And yet another kind of portrait, not of a real person though, but this one should be for a book cover that's going to be used soon : ) I tried to do a more "paint" ish coloring style here but I can't help but feel insecure when I try things differently, haha Px, but the client loved it so I'm happy too : ) The expression may look weird because they requested directly that it's two halves of the same person, with a sad and a stronger expression, but heh, hope you like it : )

A quick explanation of the steps here are:
1- Base lineart
2- Base flat colors
3- Basic shading, using a layer on Multiply mode, using warm colors : )
4- Secondary light (grey), I basically apply it on the darker areas of the shading, to neutralize the saturation. Usually on a normal or overlay mode layer.
5- Highlights! Two layers, one for soft lights and another for hard or rim light. Soft waterbrush, and then another using a harder brush to use mostly on edges or shi...

I was checking my files and I have tons of sketches of my OCs from an ask blog I used to run some time ago (it's been super inactive lately u_u)..

I'm working on a rather interesting commission right now, the drawing is not mine, but they paid me so I would color it using pencils, so I thought I haven't done this in a while so I'll take photos of the whole process and post it here : P
This is just the first step, like, adding a base color before I start blending or shading, I tried to only use a few colors for harmony issues, so right now it's basically 5 base colors, less is more, IMO.
I love using Jade for white.
