BoD B2C44 - The Real Threat

Still working on Tyron's full status in the next chapter. Should be up tomorrow.

It was no exaggeration to say a new rift could do the same amount of damage as the break that occurred at Woodsedge. Magick would flood through the rift, bringing with it a greater risk of instability to every other rift in the province.

Slayers needed to be dispatched, and soon. They could manage the flow of monsters through the rift, culling their numbers, keeping the people safe. T...

Chapter 1118 - Swirling Will of the Demon God

Strong monsters are known to have an ‘aura’ of power that affects those who draw too close. This can begin to manifest quite early on, as the key element in determining the strength of such an aura is the disparity in strength between the one producing the effect and the one receiving it. Even tier three monsters have been observed being able to suppress and terrify tier one monsters through this aura alone.

However, such cases are rare, and minor in the grand scheme of...

Chapter 1117 - I May Never Eat Pancakes Again

I'll double post BoD tomorrow, still working on both chapters. Have a great day out there everyone!

The power wielded by the Eldest, that of Gravity, was examined by the Mage cast many times. After all, it had shown incredible destructive power, which could prove vital to the Colony, especially in times such as these, when the Eldest is asleep.

However, research was difficult to perform. Learning the Skill was difficult, so some mages were tasked with...

Chapter 1116 - Spitting in the Face of the Storm pt 2

Just to be clear people. I'm not starting a new novel. Switching between Chrysalis and BoD is enough for my tiny brain. A third would cook my neurons.

But I love coming up with new worlds and concepts. So when I'm inspired, expect me to take some time to play with ideas and post stuff up here. Of course, I'll make sure that I'm hitting my quotas though!

Enjoy some Anthony action! :D

I’m tempted to just start throwing gravi...

Soul of Rage - Introduction.

Should I be working on BoD or Chrysalis? Yes. Yes I should. But I did this instead today.

Playing around with other worlds and concepts is one of my favourite things to do and it feels so good to have time for it again. Whoo!

After listening to the Cradle audiobooks I started playing around with a cultivation concept in my head and this is my attempt to put it on paper. Let me know what you think!

Not to worry, Chrys...

Chapter 1115 - Spitting in the Face of the Storm

Well aint this something. Monsters and lava boil forth in equal measure from the tunnels below and an absolute free-for-all has broken out across the Plains of Leng. Well, a bigger one. Although, to compare this scene to the normal endless fighting between larvae is to compare a volcano eruption to a candle. It's to the point where I might have to rejig my plans.

My original thought had been to bottle up and annihilate all the monsters coming through the tunnels, but that was clearly im...

BoD B2C43 - Struggle and Strive

Edit: WHOOPS. Rest of the chapter is here now.

Three bod in a week? What madness is this?!

A few things snapped into place at once for Tyron. He was no rift expert, but he had obsessively studied everything related to slayers since he was able to read. A rift forming was a major, disastrous event, shifting the flow of magick in a wide area. Depending on the size of the rift, it could manifest in a cataclysmic detonation of power similar to what ha...

BoD B2C42 - Strange Happenings

“I really thought you were over this….”

“What do you mean, ‘over this’? Are you talking about my aversion to murder? That’s a healthy thing to have!”

“For most people, sure. You aren’t most people. You’re a Necromancer on the run from the law who’s actively being hunted by superhuman killing machines. The same attitudes don’t really apply. When you wasted those two Marshals, I figured you understood that.”

“I didn’t have a choice,” Tyron gro...

BoD B2C41 - Broken

Sorry folks, there will be another tomorrow. This one's a bit short, but I didn't want to drag it out and stuff it with filler. Another tomorrow, and at least one more after that this week. Thanks for your patience!

It was tempting to reach out and tap at the array with a finger, just to make sure it was working. Poranus glared at it, unwilling to believe what he was seeing. The eyes could lie, he knew it well, especially when a person was tired.

Chapter 1114 - The Wave That Engulfed the World pt 3

Granin stirred as the wave washed over him.

"W-was that?" Corun asked breathlessly.

"It was," the triad leader stated.

Torrina sucked in a breath, letting the shock register on her face instead of her usual stoic expression.

"This is a lot sooner than we expected," she said after calming herself. "Are you sure?"

Her teacher shot her a slightly annoyed look and she looked down. Granin snorted.

"You're too smart to ask a question like that," he scolded her, "...

Morrelia braced herself, though it likely wasn't necessary. Inside her heavyset Legion armour, she could be battered with a tree and barely feel it. Even so, she braced herself.

The wave, when it came, was almost visible. A ripple of ultra-dense mana rose through their legs and passed the top of their head in a thousandth of a second, sending her reeling. She felt as if she'd been punched in the gut, but a whine from her armour caught her attention. Lifting her arm to check the...

Chapter 1112 - The Wave That Engulfed the World

The Colony is in a frenzy of preparations, still. There are over a million of us within range of the Vestibule now and I have to admit, it's a little more difficult than I'm comfortable admitting to hold onto myself in the face of this vast, endless torrent of Will. Impressions and thoughts pour into me like an river dropping into a bucket.

I can't possibly contain it all, yet still it comes, and if I dip my toe in the stream I risk being swept away in an instant. Were that to happen, h...

Finished up at work on friday.

Sorry for the lack of activity this week, been hectic getting everything sorted out and I decided to chill with the family over the weekend.

There will be a chapter of BoD tonight (aus time) and then I'll do my best to make it up to you next week.

Very excited! For the Colony!

Chapter 1111 - Coming from the Center of the Earth Again

I can feel it. I’m not sure exactly how, or why, but I can feel it. Far, far below where I stand, something has shifted. I feel as though I’m standing in a rail tunnel and somewhere out in front, the very first rumblings of the train coming my way can be felt.

My antennae tingle at the intensity of it. It’s like a rush of blood to the head. I can practically smell the rush of mana building far below.

[Ever lived through a wave, Mr Odin?] I ask my new demon friend.

“You’re being silly.”

“Oh am I? The traitor doesn’t like my attitude to their betrayal? I find myself not caring very much. Weird.”

At the word traitor, Cobalt flinched back but her determination didn’t waver.

They were going to build all over the place even if one of us wasn’t involved!” she declared, antennae waving wildly. “Someone had to get involved to make sur...

Katlyn pulled her cloak tight around her and drew deep, steadying breaths. One finger kept the tension on her bowstring taught as her eyes flicked from tree to tree, watching for any sign of pursuit.

Stay calm. Be steady. That’s how you stay alive.

The words of her mentors from the academy rang in her mind and she heeded that advice. Analyse the situation, make a plan, then execute on it. That’s how a Ranger was meant to fight.

She’d lost her cool back at the ...

When night fell that evening, Tyron found himself in increasingly familiar surroundings.

“Is it really inevitable that Necromancers end up in graveyards all the time?” he sighed.

Dove was not impressed with his melancholy.

“Are you damaged in the head? You fucking moron. Of coursea Necromancer is going to be frequenting graveyards. That’s where all the bones and dead bodies are!”

“I get that! It’s just… a little bleak.” He gestured to the cem...

Chapter 1108 - The Demon Way

Among demonkind, there are as many different species as there are tunnels in the Dungeon. As with any distribution among a monster-type, some are common, while others are exceedingly rare.

The reasons for this are worthy of a dissertation of their own, but in brief, some species are more stable, leading to a higher survival rate, some are weaker at earlier stages of evolution, leading to a lower survival rate, and some require a unique inclination within the mons...

BoD B2C38 - Cragwhistle

Late as it gets. Big news tomorrow though.

At a certain point, the rolling foothills, pierced in places by ragged outcroppings of rock, or torn by ravines, gave way to the true mountains.

The Barrier mountains were, like their name, a veritable wall, one that scraped the sky with jagged claws formed from the bones of this plane. If a way through existed, the people of the Western Province did not know it. To them, these mountains were impassable, anything that lay...

Chapter 1107 - An Unexpected Visitor

The demon glided through the air with such exquisite grace, only to land in a perfect kneeling posture in front of me. I’m surprised to say the least and reflexively lash a bridge together so I can communicate with this odd specimen.

[Are you bowing?] I ask after my initial exclamation.

This seems very much an Earth thing to do. I can’t recall seeing demons bow to each other, regardless of the circumstances. Unless this is some as yet unseen custom of the denizens of ...

Chapter 1106 - Crouching Demon, Hidden… Demon

I have this vague idea that all of Odin's assassination stories are some flavour of ridiculous.

Odin skulked amongst the larvae that covered the ground. Now knee deep, the newborn demons were even more frenzied than normal, hacking and tearing at each other with wild abandon.

He’d been one of them not that long ago, it was difficult to remember that sometimes. Weak, having to climb up over his own kind in order to survive. Just like his life as a human. View Post

B2C36 - Smoke and Fire

“Is that smoke?” Tyron squinted into the distance.

The early morning light seemed thin in the foothills, the fog that rolled off the mountains lasted until the sun was high overhead on cold days. Even so, the dirty streak that stained the sky seemed to trace its origin down to a point on the ground.

“I don’t fucking know, you fuck! Why do you insist on saying this shit out loud?”

“Shut up, Dove,” the Necromancer muttered absently as he continued to examine the ...

Chapter 1105 - Beyond Projections

The Cults have competed for thousands of years, attempting to craft the most superior monster, one with the potential to become an Ancient in its own right.

Such a thing was a dream within a dream, yet it is our purpose. I myself strove for over a century at this very task. I am proud of the work that I did, and the monsters I created were strong, surprising a number of my peers with their capabilities.

A key argument, and one I have listened to and participa...

Delicious, delicious mutations. Horrible, horrible itch.

How could I describe the itch I experienced when I locked those three in and confirmed them with Gandalf? I’d expected it to be bad, obviously. The moment the wizened, gruff tones of the grey one faded away, I had braced myself for the worst.

It turns out, my understanding of ‘worst’ was appallingly incorrect.

I felt as if my itches had itches of their own. The first itch, unaccustomed to the sensation, took out ...

Is it the insane level of mana saturation I’ve been living in lately? Is it the Biomass rich diet of more highly evolved monsters?

B2C35 - Raven Words

Children smiling with a tired sort of joy was a balm to the heart, Elsbeth decided. She rose from where she had been crouched as the small gathering of young folk ran back to their parents. Such expressions had been rare over the last few weeks, more often than not, families were in mourning, mothers and fathers having fallen in the chaos that followed the breach.

She brushed her hands on her skirt before looking around the small clearing. A fire crackled on the eastern side ...

Chapter 1102 - The Third Goes to Hell pt 6

I really need to mutate my stomach. After powering through the remains of two tier seven demons, I’m absolutely stuffed. It’s a little saddening that my efficiency upgrades give me absolutely no benefit when eating another monster of my own tier, but such is life.
