2020-07-05 13:01:00 +0000 UTC View PostWhen people find out I make crosswords for a living, the few brave enough to broach the topic (most just nod and say "hi") ask me do I write the clues first or make the grid first? In the case of this puzzle, I came up with the title first.

Actually, some of the most anagram-friendly towns were pretty obscure even to us. About time they were recognized for their wordplay merits, we say!

2020-06-14 13:00:02 +0000 UTC View PostFor some reason, this form of silliness has always gotten us giggling. One of us (we won't say which) has more trouble with Ls and Rs, while the other tends to trip over the CH-SH-TH combinations. We can butcher UNIQUE NEW YORK equally. See how you fare with this handful.

2020-06-07 13:00:02 +0000 UTC View PostI've never been a particularly good student. Basically A's in the classes I cared about, C+ in everything else. Now I'm homeschooling Tabitha thanks to The Plague That Shall Not Be Named, which if we're being honest with ourselves is High Comedy. In fact, me having to be a teacher is basically like my own personal "Black Mirror" nightmare. Great times.

2020-05-17 13:01:01 +0000 UTC View PostHere's a little inside baseball from your favorite constructor with the initials B, E and Q. Normal Sunday-sized puzzles have somewhere in the range of 140-144 words, today's offering has a scant 134. So that means it's quite a bit more wide-open than usual. It's also got a theme that my friend Ben Tausig calls "themed themelesses." You'll see what I mean when you solve it.
