I've spent a lot of time working on different drafts of the opening sequence for our kids channel, and while none of these made the final cut I wanted to share them anyway!

Okay, this is a big one. 35 minutes of discussion of some of the problematic dates in Daniel, the figure of Nebuchadnezzar, as well as Belshazzar. We know it's not due to come out for another month, but Josh wanted you guys to have it early!

I just finished this and I had to show you :D it needs a barcode, and an author photo, but apart from that the cover for our grammar is done! What do you think?

2019-12-09 21:01:31 +0000 UTC View PostHi everyone,
I know there's been some radio-silence lately - I'm very sorry about that! We are still here, we are still running the channel and HAPS, and we do still plan on launching our kids channel in the new year.
I am currently in the final stages of editing Josh's Sumerian Grammar book, and that's been my main preoccupation for the past month. It's nearly ready to be sent to the printers, and I'm not producing anything else until that is out of my hands! Hopefully normal ser...

Josh's video on how the Hebrew used in the book of Daniel can help to date the book!

Gilgamesh! What is it? Where does it come from? All these exciting questions and more!

It needs some work (the files with transparent backgrounds are currently stuck on my iPad!) and some music, but I wanted to test out the opening sequence I had in mind.
What do you think?
One of the more contentious discussions when it comes to the Old Testament (and the Bible, for that matter) is when the Book of Daniel was written. Because it describes events that happened in history, if it was written centuries before these events, the book would be evidence for genuine prophecy. If it was written after these events, however, many feel that this would undermine the veracity of the Bible, and even their faith.
In this video, I begin a three-part seri...

A kind subscriber pointed out to me that I missed Enuma Elish tablet 6! This week's upload now means that the complete Enuma Elish is on the channel - I'll put a playlist together early next week so you can watch them all, and hopefully (soon) edit together all of the videos into one long narration :)
2019-10-01 19:53:35 +0000 UTC View PostThe intertextuality/plagiarism video is morphing from one video into two or three, mainly because it's so fascinating that I want to spend some time on it. Here's the rough draft of the script for video one!

Good morning, everyone!
We're all back in the right country and getting into a routine now the kids are back at school. Oliver is, as usual, at home with me and causing absolute chaos.
With the start of the new academic year, we have a new schedule to keep us busy producing lots of great content for you all! It will run on a monthly basis as follows:
1st week - Soothing Stories (this month: the final tablet of Enuma Elish)
2nd week - video from Josh (thi...
Early access to this month's patreon video, looking at the sources for the life of Nebuchadnezzar II! This is mostly complete, just missing some graphics - final version will be uploaded tomorrow!
Thank you all for voting on this month's video topic! Next month's video will look at intertextuality in ancient texts, and explain why I dislike the term 'plagiarism when it's applied to them!

Nebuchadnezzar II in Greek and Mesopotamian sources!
AND! Intertextuality in the ancient world!
We have a tie, so I'll do Nebuchadnezzar for July, and Intertextuality for August. I'm excited to get started! It's been a long time since I read anything about Nebuchadnezzar so this is an excellent excuse to do some research...and intertextuality is one of my favorite topics, so that's going to be a fun one too!
Thank you everyone for your ideas and suggestions. Our next v...

I just got to the halfway point with the video editing and thought I'd show you lovely people what I've come up with!
The intro needs some work, but I think the rest of it is looking pretty good.

You may have noticed that all of our social media has been rebranded over the past week. While I was very proud of the original graphics we made for the channel, it was definitely time for a change! I realised as I finished the editing process for a new video that our intro sequence and end screen no longer worked with the feel of the new branding, so I spent the evening making a new intro sequence and end screen. I think I've just about got the intro animation matching up with the audio, but...

Hey everyone! Here is Dr. Josh's final response to Whaddo You Meme's slavery videos. We hope you enjoy the sneak peek!!
In this final response, Dr. Josh examines five arguments that are leveled either against the reality of slavery in the Old Testament, or against Cosmic Skeptic.
Argument #1 (00:37): "Slavery was necessary, so God did not abolish it. Instead, he regulated its practice."
Argument #2 (5:19): Captive virgin women were not used as 'sex slaves' by the Israe...

Hey guys! Thank you all SO MUCH for supporting the channel! I wanted to let you know that I created this new sequence for Streamlabs, and I wanted you to have an early look at it. I also figured out what was wrong with the microphone (obviously nothing was wrong with it... there was something wrong with ME), but it's just about right. I know the volume is a little low on the mic in this video compared to the video, but I think I have fixed that too. Thank you all so much, and we'll see you so...
