Em and I have jettisoned Roger Wilco after 5 games of frustration with minimal payoff. Committing to our goal of only playing good adventure games, we kick it off with the king of 90s FMV titles -- Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within.
It's time for some Werewolves in Munich and homoeroticism!
Hope you enjoy!

For some reason it looks like last week's episode didn't post, so if you missed it, catch up here: https://youtu.be/1uIUx3uNJCM
This week we had some unexpected technical difficulties that nuked all two hours worth of video footage. Audio came through great though, and Trevor and I have a lively discussion about architecture, making friends in Fromsoft games, dad albums, and Berserk references. Hope you enjoy!

This week Em and I tried to play the Space Quest VI demo...
And then an earth-shattering proclamation from Em sets us on a new, better course.

It's time to move on. Lothric has overstayed its welcome and we've got Lords of Cinder to deliver to flame, so in this episode Derby, Trevor, and I tie up the last loose ends and make our way through. We make a friends, kill a boss, and Derby remembers how much she loves Firebombs.

Derby Day is here again!
This episode starts out with us in full tilt as we take out frustrations about the digital media landscape and the horrible wealth horders who pull the strings, then we explore deeper into the High Wall of Lothric, making friends and taking time out to explore new-to-us statuary!
Also, Derby makes a fashion statement, care of Leigh Alexander.
This is a fun one, hope you enjoy it!

On Sunday, OBS apparently decided it wanted to record Em's audio to no less than 6 tracks and not a single track of my audio, so it's a very special mid-week payload of everyone's favorite space janitor!
This is a pretty fun episode where we have call backs to jokes no one has heard, I do lots of bad voices, and Em gets surly about some truly uninspired puzzle design!
Hope you enjoy! We'll be back with even more this Sunday!

Trevor, Derby, and I are back with the second episode of our Dark Souls 3 LP and this time we poke more at the layers of Firelink Shrine before zipping off to a half-remembered Lothric to discuss medieval public works acts and al fresco royalty, and Miyazaki brings a Junji Ito sexuality to horticulture.
Hope you enjoy!

The gang's back!
Derby Day returns as our intrepid daughter rises into a world of ash and ember, of ringing bells, and black cloaked cultists. She meets a tremendous crystal lizard and rocks its world, and then is judged to be lacking repeatedly by a stainless steel weirdo in a puddle.
There's old friends and new in this the best of all possible souls!
Hope you enjoy this inaugural episode of the new season of Derby's Dark Souls adventures!

This week, Em and I recorded the first episode of our Space Quest V: The Next Mutation LP -- for a second time.
It's every bit as wild (with new gameplay, new deaths, and new revelations) as our first time through, but without the solid forty-five minutes spent bantering about classic sci-fi spaceships, or being stuck trying to figure out a puzzle before kicking the can down the road, which was lost in the The Great Tragedy of the First First Episode of SQV.
However!
Thanks ...

Hey everyone, just a quick note to let you all know I got to be a guest on Aaron King and Max Lander's RTFM, a TTRPG book club podcast. We had a great time talking about the crucial nature of vibes in roleplaying modules and rulebooks as we dove deep into Evey Lockhart's fantastic southern hellscape vision of a dying Homlet-like settlement and a river inhabited by pseudo-gods, elemental spirits, lesbian cannibals, and all manner of tragedy.
Hope you'll give it a listen and enjoy it!

This week Em and I start Space Quest IV. It's a leap into the VGA era, with all the technical and gameplay issues that originally came along with games from the early 90s. We try our best to roll with the punches without becoming too punchy ourselves (lol).
Hopefully next week will go smoother, but I hope you enjoy this first step into the future with Roger Wilco!

This week Em and I start Space Quest III: The Pirates of Pestulon.
This really was the first big game for me, the one that started it all. It's fun to see what I remember, when I remember split seconds before it happens, and things that I completely forgot about.
SQ3 is such a massive evolution over the previous games, it's truly wild. Sound effects, polyphonic music, a parser that pauses the game while you type. And not to mention now our death sequences are lovingly ...

It's a boss run episode. You know one of those ones where we throw ourselves upon the merciless wheel and talk about everything from game design to profound personal experiences. This one is no different. Except I think we definitely can say that this is the only Dark Souls video on YouTube to discuss Lorrie Moore and Anne Lamott.
Hope you have as much fun watching this as we did recording it.

Let's finish Space Quest II: Vohaul's Revenge!
After admiring Guan Yu in a clearing, we're ready for more Star Wars references and obtuse puzzle solutions (and even a very brief stealth sequence) as we guide Roger Wilco to save the universe once again!

Em and I begin Space Quest 2! There's terrible mazes, obtuse puzzles, and it's everything that's terrible about adventure games of this era. The graphics are better, there's more sound, it's a whole uncharted adventure full of sci-fi media references! Also we admire Guan Yu.

It's big YOLO hours as we return to Shulva - Sanctum City! We cross the 300 death threshold! We fight some giant toothy not-quite-dragons. There are flower ladies! I forget my mythology and my monstrous compendium and incorrectly call something "like a Lamia." But there's twists and turns and puzzles and so much action! I hope you enjoy it!

Kicking off a brand new LP series with Em from Abnormal Mapping!
They've never played a Sierra game outside of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers and I haven't played a Space Quest game in nearly 30 years. So that's what we're doing!
And we're kicking it all off by drawing parallels to Dark Souls in Space Quest 1: The Sarien Encounter (1987).

Hope you enjoy!
