Cove the Incubus (rough draft)

Living is hard. Why does it have to be so hard? Who said? Who made the rules? Well, anyways, lamentations aside, I guess it could be a lot worse. I could still be living back home. I could have an even worse roof over my head. But I guess, it’s better to think about those things rather than the shit happening now.

“Finding a roommate was harder than I expected,” you lamented to your grandmother on the phone.

“Oh, I’m sorry Pumpkin,” she said. “You can always move in ...

Onyx the Tabaxi: Part One (complete)

Male Reader x Female Monster (poly)

I can hear soft purring coming from the other room, it's a sound I’ve grown used to as of late. Sometimes when I am working, the sound will float through the air, reaching my ears and causing a tingle to go down my spine. Ever since Onyx has joined our home, Rings and I have been showing her the ways of the village. In a way, Onyx and her behavior reminds me a lot of myself when I was first taken in. I’ve grown quite fond of her through that.

Having to go to the doctor’s so much was a pain, but at least you had a great doctor now. Everytime you go, you don’t get that sense of dread or exhaustion you used to. The Vampire Clinic, as strange as it sounds, has been the best thing to happen on your journey thus far.

Dr. Behr is your physician, and he’s been the best doctor you’ve had. You know the clinic offers ‘special’ services, but you’ve been happy just talking with Dr. Behr.

A small beeping noise stirred you from your slumber. You inhaled sharply, sitting up and rubbing the corner of your eye as you woke from the small nap. The lab was quiet, save for the beeping coming from the monitor you had been working on.

“I’m up, I’m up,” you cleared your throat. “I was just resting my eyes.”

The little pink bunny dragon on the screen hopped around. “You should go home and rest,” Ruin suggested.

For the past few years, you’ve been away studying at the Rakshasa Academy. While there, you had been a personal guest to King Amit and Queen Mythri, who had been gracious hosts. But a few weeks ago, you received a letter from you family, saying you needed to put your studies on hold since your father’s life was a risk. He had been attacked while visiting local villages, so they were sending you a bodyguard for your trip back home.

It’s easy to complain about the state of things when you have some massive, overshadowing presence is always hovering above you. It’s become almost boring to hear everything wrong with the world being blamed on those asteroids that hit earth ages ago.

You were born into a world after such an event, for you and your friends growing up it was the most common thing. Giant asteroids hit earth? Okay. Giant super monsters called kaiju emerged ...

Mask the Slasher: Christmas Special (rough draft)

All of my friends were dead. That much was certain. Everything else was up in the air, scattered about like the snowflakes in the air. They were all murdered, chopped up, left to rot in the woods or until they were found. But I have no hope that any of us will be found. We will all simply become another statistic, another rumor. We will be whispers heard in the air, barely uttered but oft spoken about. Our families will search, but we will only remain as questions to them. True crime aficiona...

Applying for jobs was a crapshoot. You couldn’t remember exactly all the places you had applied to, but you had compared it to throwing shit at the wall and seeing what stuck. Optimism was hard to maintain; but you were beginning to believe that hopelessness was really the theme of your generation.

Then you received a phone call.

A distant relative, you weren’t sure how you were related, had come into the clutch, and fou...

Avo the Changeling: Part Two (rough draft)

Something had gone wrong with one of the stage lights just hours before the carnival was due to open. You had tried absolutely everything to get it up and running, but a fear of a short made you decide to take it down and hope there was a replacement within the storage facility.

“I’m sure Heathcliff has something.” Mr. Faire walked along beside you. “And not to worry! If worse comes to worse, we shall work with what we have.”

You were chewing on your bottom lip. “No. N...

I had grown up in a city that was devoid of most color. All the buildings were made of the same gray stone that was chiseled from the nearby mountains. And since it was mostly occupied by military personnel, there wasn’t much plant life around. I’m not sure why that is, maybe there weren’t enough people to take care of it. Maybe the stone made things inhabitable. That’s how it was for me anyways. That’s why I vowed to travel and see as muc...

Avo the Changeling: Part One (rough draft)

It appeared one night, seeming to just rise as the sunset. The high peaks and arches of the big top filled the horizon and the lights of the ferris wheel made it look as if the sun had set it all on fire. Come morning, everyone was abuzz talking about the mysterious carnival that had appeared.

Flyers had been posted in the dead of night, and people were collecting them like they were treasure. You were lucky enough to snatch one before they were all gone. It was printed on black paper w...

The first Festival of Ash you could remember attending, was the one where you were taken to see if you’d be one of the chosen. At the time, your town was small and there weren’t very many kids your age. It had been very likely at the time you were going to be chosen. The ceremony progressed as normal, but you weren’t selected.

All your friends had been chosen, and they talked about it all the time. You smiled and nodded along, congratu...

Peter slept in your room, and had been sleeping for at least a day now. You and Willow were trying to decide how to approach this, and if there was a possibility this could be a fake peter, or if Peter was lying. It had been a remarkably cold winter, marked by occasional snow flurries which were a rarity for your neck of the wood. You were used to a chill in the air, maybe some cold rain or ice, but this year felt different. It was as if a shift occurred somewhere in the fall and a wind of change had swept through the trees.

It did not stop your work though, and even through the holidays you worked on coordinating the Festival of Ash that would be happening in the spring. For the past few years ...
