Monster March: Hug the Robot

You’ve been working as a mechanic in the Ares Repair and Maintenance  since you were sixteen years old. You had been a friend of the owner’s  daughter, Mina, and after some altercations with your family they took  you in under their roof. This also meant you shared your roof with the  robot hero, Hephaestus. You honed your skills as a mechanic repairing  Heff and the other robots that tagged along with him.

When Heff  and Mina became a couple it wasn’...

Rocco the Guard: Part Two (special preview)

I had my new schedule all planned out so that Rocco and his guards couldn’t trace me so easily. It took some effort and time, but luckily, thanks to Kali and her friends, we didn’t starve or anything. But I was bored, and for me, that was almost torture. With my new schedule and plan in mind I went back into the market. After being cooped up in the house for so long, I was excited to stretch my legs a bit.

I stopped at a booth outside where a woman had set up a blanket with handmade...

Rocco the Guard: Part One (rough draft)

Deep within the woods, much farther than anyone should go, lies a house made of cobwebs and stone. Far from prying eyes the house shines light all day, probably from the cauldron that is boiling away. Smoke rises from the chimney, whispering secrets and malice. Inside this old house there is not a mouse, there is barely life at all to be seen. Except the witch who lives there, passing out charms both cursed and lucky. But beware her jagged smile, or you may not be seen for a while.

The following day, you were getting out of class and heading towards the library to study.  The day was bright, and it was hurting your eyes. You squinted through the shadows of the awning around the library door, thinking you could see someone coming towards you.

Then your phone rang.

You scoffed, it had ot be your mother, no one else ever called you. You answered without even looking.

“I’m just getting out of class, I haven't eve...

Recently, you’ve moved to a new town. It’s small and quiet, the  biggest building there happens to be the assisted living center for  seniors. You like it well enough, homes there were cheap so you were  able to get a small house near the woods. You’re still unpacking and  there are boxes everywhere, you don’t know how you had so much stuff  until you moved.

Your service dog, Mimi, has been  adjusting well. She lik...

I live in a small village that has become known as something as a  safe haven for mercenaries and assassins. Back in the day it used to be  called Greenshade but as of recently it has become known as Slystall.  It’s off the path from the kingdom of Veleryn, far enough away we aren’t  bothered by the traffic there and hidden in the woods just enough that  we became what we are today.

A lot of people have moved awa...

Life Update: Surgery is Coming

I just got back from my gyno visit and I have my hysterectomy scheduled for May 8th.

Now not to worry, I have plans for what will be happening while I recover. The queue will be full, and I’ll have something special planned for the time I’m going to take off for healing and reflection.

I will be going to every other month mail outs starting in May. So there will be mail outs coming in April!

Thank you all for your support. I will let you know more about future plans ...

The summons came at a  late hour, and work usually didn’t contact me until the morning on  weekdays. Never after six, certainly never on weekends. This was  strange, considering how consistent they had been. This job was strange,  to say the least, but at least my employers were professional.

It  had been storming the last few days. The winds had been strong, and the  rain came and went in spurts of heavy showe...

Looking in the mirror is hard, well, it was always hard before but  now it’s even worse. I had first felt the lump in my breast when I was  just graduating college. I was stressed from exams and finals and all  that bullshit stuff that seems to matter at the time. I wasn’t until my  breast started hurting so bad that I went to the doctor. The first exam  felt normal and the doctor was...

I sit in my car, everything I own is inside it. I feel relieved I’m  finally out there but I’m also feeling horribly scarred. I just broke up  with my ex and it took me months to build up the courage to do it. I  knew he wouldn’t take it well at all and he really didn’t. He fought  like a hurricane which only made me more certain that I had to go. My  cheek is still sore from where he slapped me but I suppose it’s worth to  finally be gone.

You had taken to wandering even when you were small. It had become  such an issue that your mother wouldn’t take you to go shopping with her  anymore, you had gotten lost in the grocery store or mall one too many  times. Waiting for a package to come into the mail was exciting. It was all the joy of a child on Christmas eve, peering out their window in hopes that Santa Claus would appear. It was more like the adult version, in the fact you can have this every day if you wanted to. Keeping tabs on tracking, watching out the window as something is left on your stoop, it’s the boost you need to get through the day sometimes. Or at least it had been until you moved.

It was barely even light out when you opened the back door to the cafe. You glanced up to the sky, seeing the moon was still out. For a moment you held your breath and counted to ten, letting the moon wash over you and prepare you for the long day ahead.

“Where are you with that moon water?” Your mother shouted from inside.

“Coming!” You yelled back. You grabbed up the pitcher and stumbled with a second. “It’s heavy,” you...

I’ve lived by the ocean since I was born. I’ve always felt a  connection to it, even when I was little. The Bride of Mr. Fox: Part Two (rough draft)

It was over a week of waiting for Mr. Fox’s first visit. And when he did arrive, it was an inauspicious visit, to say the least. I look back on it, I see the awkwardness between all of us. Mr. Fox was put off by Mother and Heleen’s eagerness, while I’m sure my attempts to dampen their excitement made me seem unwelcoming. Mother was angry afterwards, throwing the dinner plates at our feet then making us clean the mess. We thought, once he left that door, he would never return.

It was raining as we stepped out of the office building. Looking out from under the awning I could see nothing but dark, ominous clouds ahead of us. Riley tugged at my hand, demanding my attention.

I passed Riley’s hand over to her brother’s. “You two stay right here, okay? I’ll go pull up the car so you don’t have to get wet.”

Gavin held that blank expression as he took hold of Riley’s hand. “Okay.”

“Can’t we ...

Strange that it is I wake up each morning to the scent of grave dirt these mornings. I half expect to find myself being buried, but that is not that case. I am in bed, like I should be, and there are no graves in sight. I only see my sister in her bed, pretending to still be asleep when I know she’s barely slept at all. Needless to say I don’t like waking much these days. I don’t care to get out of bed due to the injury to my foot. It is so embarrassing to hobble.

I’ve always admired people who are charismatic and have a magnetic personality that brings people in. I wasn’t blessed with such abilities. In fact, some might say I’m the opposite side of that magnet, and I push away. Not that I’m a bad person or anything, I just look like I am. Even as a baby my mom had to explain to people I wasn’t upset, that was just my face.

I’ve learned to cope and how to work around it. Becoming a w...

The sound of rain filtered in through your sleep addled brain. You faded back into reality as rain hissed on the tin roof of your cabin. Joints popped, back snapped and you sighed in rumination on all those sounds coming from your body alone.

Small Update: Possible Mail Out Changes

I’m sure we all know how tight things are these days. If it’s not gas prices being jacked up, it’s eggs, or baby formula, or hell, all groceries. Along with recent health issues, I’m more broke than usual. I usually have funds set aside each month for stamps and mail outs. But recently more and more I’ve had to dip into that to make ends meet.

I hate doing this. I love mail outs and everything that comes with it (especially now that I have a printer for the addresses!) But ti...
