Face weighted normals and what it is gets asked a lot. also referred to as FWN. Heres a bit of a breakdown on what is happening in the background of the magic that is FWN.

This material isn't for complex materials but can help you get away with faking a lot of the smaller assets that don't need as much detail via texture maps.
This is a 3vertex blend between material functions with a dirt mask on top. Added also is a detail normal which can be controlled in strength per vertex color.
2 hours of critiques on your guys work!

In one of my upcoming videos im planning to show cheap ways to make a material breakup with lower drawcalls.
In this material we blend between 3 materials with vertex color to ID where they go on the mesh.
Each material allows for Albedo, Roughness, and Metallic controls. Combine this with a mask to tie them together and add more albedo/roughness details and your in a super nice spot.
Decals the Star Citizen way! Lets set up the shader. talking technical as well.

We are basically done with this shader. Few tweaks to be done but we should be doing a breakdown soon.

Working on rocks! Its a nice way to take a break from thinking really hard and just doing stuff.

Finally getting somewhere! lets go!!! once this is all working and we have a asset we have made working with this I will for sure be doing a shader breakdown and explaining it all.
Huge shout out to Ben Wilson
