New Antioch [R0.2] Dev Log #14

Hail citizens,

Ladies and gentlemen, it is a great pleasure to inform you that I've figured out how animations work with Daz + RenPy. I've done two custom adult anims for episode 2 (24 fps, 2 sec loops). My philosophy on anims in VNs is "no anim is better than a bad anim", but I think mine are... acceptable. They were fun to do, so I'm looking forward to getting more practice in future episodes.

Hail citizens,

The first NSFW dev log I've done in a while! Also surprisingly the first to show Safiya. She features quite heavily in episode 2.

I had an okay week in terms of productivity; only had time to do ~35 renders. Happy to say that I've finished the scene I was working on, though. All that's left is 1) the adult part of the fight scene, and 2) a small scene pulled back from ep 3 into ep 2. 

I'm working on these two in parallel, and I estimate I've got another 6...

Hey everyone,

We're at the 90% mark, so shit's getting real.

I don't have a whole lot to update, other than that I did another ~40 renders. I am expecting this coming week to be a bit slower, though, since I'll unfortunately have to work over the weekend for the day job.

New Antioch [R0.2] Dev Log #11

Hail citizens,

The render in this week's log is one of my personal faves. I think it encapsulates the title of episode 2 pretty well; "The Mission over Mourning".

I got through another ~50 renders this week, and finished the fight scene. I have about 2.5 scenes left to do (out of 13), and they're likely on the shorter (<50 render) side. I'm a software dev by day, so I'm allergic to deadlines, but I think early/mid September is looking good for the release.

New Antioch [R0.2] Dev Log #10

Hail citizens,

Don't know about you guys but I'm hyped af for BG3. I'm actually not a huge DnD player irl, but I love games that are based on it.

I did ~65 renders this week for the combat scene, finishing 2 fights (out of 3). Having play-tested them, I really like how they've turned out. I'm currently ~33% into the 3rd fight. The majority of the renders are from a first-person perspective, for that immersion.

I had a great week and got through another 50 renders or so. Right now I'm working on the largest and most complex scene in ep 2 (the one with the new combat system). It's like a mini-arena, so it's a fun challenge to sequence the fights in a way that flows nicely.

This is Enzo. He's the first royal to ever serve in the praetorians--an elite group of warriors who serve as the bodyguards of the Imperator of the Antiochan Empire. After his father's death, he forfeited his right to the crown to his mother, Faustina, for reasons unknown to the public.

New Antioch [R0.2] Dev Log #3

Hail citizens,

This is the third LI being introduced in ep 2. No prizes for guessing who she is ;)

I posted a poll on Discord this week about whether LIs should have paths. The results were tight, but yes won. To act on that, R0.2 will also add some choices to Aquila's board game scene in ep 1 (so you can win/lose some points with her). This will require a new save, but I'll try to keep future save resets to a bare minimum.

Hail citizens,

Another log, another new LI. This preview will also give you an idea of how advanced New Antioch really is (or at least some parts of it), after centuries of hoarding technology. 

I had a very productive week, and smashed out a few of the shorter scenes. To put it into perspective, 16% is ~110 renders. Scene I'm working on right now is taking ~1 hour/render, so that may slow me down a bit but we'll see.

Afterparty

Hey everyone,

It's the day after release! I thought this would be a good time to outline my future plans for the game and preview episode 2. 

I'm gonna aim for a 3-4 month update cycle, and will be posting weekly dev logs right here on Patreon to keep you all up to speed. The story is planned to be 9 or 10 episodes long, we but we'll see as we go.
