Super Ladies!

SO, Silk is officially finished, and I wore her today for the first time at El Paso Comic Con! Here's a quick photo of me, Nicole Marie Jean (middle), and Christina Dark from this morning —  spandex squad!!

ALMOST THERE!

This is all basted together to ensure the right fit. I'm almost there, just a few tweaks left to make, and then I can do my final seams on the serger! I'm really happy with the fit and the print looks amazing on!! AHH!! So close!

Silk is about halfway sewn!

Working with the Lycra has been tricky, and pattern matching is a beast, but I'm about half done with sewing Silk together!!

IT BEGINS.

If my all-caps post last night wasn't clear, my spandex for Silk arrived and I can finally get started on the actual construction!! Here's a quick shot of the front so you can see this gorgeous, insane detail - look at the texture!! I'm so excited to have this on my body!! 😍 I plan to start sewing it tonight, so keep an eye out for rapid fire updates!

Silk delays :/

Sooo...my fabric for Silk is being shipped from the UK and it arrived in Los Angeles on March 22 and hasn't moved since. 😑 That's why there's no progress on that yet. After already waiting 30 days to have it printed, I'm 100% out of patience and just want to work on it!! GRRR.

Cinderella photo edit timelapse

You may have noticed that I'm kind of using Cinderella as a "trial run" for a real, full Patreon costume — so I wanted to make sure I knew how to do a photo editing timelapse, which is one of the $10+ reward items. Cinderella shoot is a go!!

It was touch and go there for a minute (short battery life! struggles with auto focus!) but ultimately, I was able to get some totally acceptable photos of my peasant Cinderella today!

I'll be working on those photo edits tonight, and hopefully will have some photos for you tomorrow. (Meanwhile, my Silk fabric is supposed to arrive this week, so expect updates on that soon!)

Silk wig & makeup test!

My Silk wig came in (the Eowyn from Arda Wigs!) and I couldn't resist putting it on and seeing what Silk would look like! I went for a pretty natural look with her because with that black hair and the kerchief covering half her face, I didn't want to overwhelm. I'm really happy with how it looks and can't wait to put it all together!

Next Cosplay: Silk!

Okay, after wringing my hands over Rey for a few weeks I've decided I'm just going to set her aside for a while. Not feeling the inspiration, so I'm not going to force it!

Instead, I'm start on a cosplay for an upcoming group shoot: Silk, from the Marvel universe! Silk was bitten by the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker. Fun fact: This will be my first comic book cosplay!!

New Ariel bodice!

Sorry guys, I am alllll over the place right now. I remade my bodice for Ariel's town dress to actually have structure, because I'm wearing it for a Geekiarchy video next weekend, plus I'm moving (just to a bigger place in town) so everything is in boxes and just!! Ack!! This is made with Simplicity 1215, which is the Disney licensed Elsa and Anna pattern. The bodice fit me like a glove without any alterations, and it was really easy to add boning to and eliminate the trim! This pattern is offi...

Super serious and professional Cinderella progress

Finished the last pieces of Cinderella: kerchief and "torn" apron! Was too tired to try it on with the full costume, so have my ridiculous face and messy sewing room. The wig came in too (my first Dolluxe!) so I may be doing a full costume test with this one soon, just so I don't get any nasty surprises the day of the shoot when I put it all on together! 😜 NOW, back to Rey!!

WOO! Cinderella almost done!

This is Belle's apron (Cinderella's is torn, and I don't want to tear Belle's) but otherwise it's almost done! It's a big relief to have this mostly out of the way so fast.

Cinderella materials!

Grabbed some bedsheets, pillow cases, a shirt, and some flats today for about $30 total! Hoping to have this turned most of the way into Cinderella by the end of today!

Bonus cosplay???

SO... I'm putting together a quick peasant Cinderella in the next few weeks for a Geekiarchy video, so you're gonna get a bonus cosplay this round! ;P Maybe it'll make up for how slow I've been moving with Rey...

PHEW...finally Rey progress!

I think I was refusing to admit it to myself, but... I had a major case of cosplay burnout. 😲 I was working on cosplay every single day for 5+ hours each day for the last two weeks of December and I didn't realize how much of a toll it took on me! Rey wig & makeup test!

SOOO...I'm not *thrilled* with this, but I feel good about this look being possible with a wig (something I was worried about before). This wig needs a lot of work to get those layers tamed into this style, but I feel way better equipped to do that after this attempt. Extremely tiny Rey progress

WELL, I've barely had free time lately, plus I'm redesigning my website, but here's some of the very tiny Rey progress I've made! Just modified a long sleeved shirt into her blouse, and lined the neckline with bias tape. Now it needs to be dyed!

I know this is pathetic progress... 😲 Don't worry, I'll have more exciting stuff soon!
