Good News/Bad News

Minor Shortage

Volume Five on the Horizon

10/20/18:  NEWS!  Volume 5 is on its way!  I've finally received, reviewed, and revised the initial print copy, and sent an order for more.

Now, a few things must be said.  Taking the size of the product into account, I'm afraid it's going to be more expensive than previous volumes.  I've kept the price at $10.00 for each book, but Heaven on Earth is roughly twice as big as the next largest volume (and very nearly two and a half times as big as the shortest)! &nbs...

Progress Report: Volume Five

8/19/18:  Hello everyone!  It's high time for me to drop a line.  High line time.

 Work on Zebra Girl's final volume is progressing.  I'm formatting the  comic pages one by one, and most of the bells and whistles are finished.   The back cover, the ISBN code, the intro page, that page with all the  copyright stuff and printing details in the corner, the decorative  buffer pages... and of course I have to finish the front cover's  illustrat...

Progress Report

Hello everyone!  How are things?  Sure is strange, going without a new page baked fresh every week.  But it's high time I reached out to keep us all in the loop!

Progress is being made towards printing Volume 5 of Zebra Girl (the final storyline, "Heaven on Earth"), though I've been slowed by certain family issues which coincidentally arose just as the comic was concluding.  Nothing really terrible, but situations which require a lot of my time and attention.

6/8/2018: Epilogue, Page 23

In case you missed the memo (and my memos are easily missed), this is NOT the final page.  The final page will appear on Monday (June 11th).  I thought that I could wrap things up sooner, but Zebra Girl, she squeezed me for just a few more days of life.

Not that the comic is “dying,” necessarily, any more than a story dies  when you finish the last chapter and close a book.  I would like to  think that many of you will return here ...

Update, June 5:  Art is fluid, right up to the last second.  I  had intended for the next page to be the last, but the way things are  shaping up, it looks like there's going to be still one more page after that!

Terribly sorry (again) for keeping everyone waiting. Especially since this might be taken as something of an anti-climax to the comic's oldest mystery man. I pondered many times over the years how best to resolve his presence... I won't say that this is what I always had in mind. There were ideas. He might have been a big part of Zebra Girl's story.

Even outfits can change!  Though it seems like we've seen something similar somewhere before.  Clearly just a coincidence.  And if you think it looks tremendously impractical, just remember it's magic and stuff!
 

Heck, even her vampire helpers followed Rebecca's example and changed  their clothes.  And good for them.  Those old rags were getting ratty.

Hello again!  Back to our Monday/Friday schedule.  And that was the last  hiatus ever.  I mean, there's not very many pages left at all, so I  can't possibly find room for another one!  Right?  Right?
 

Also, no, they're not all in the room with her when she opens her  present.  A certain amount of time passes between panels five and six.   Comics are magical that way.

Getting Back to Patreon

Oh, I've been foolish again.  Since the beginning of Zebra Girl's Epilogue I've advertised its updates through Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, DeviantArt, Pinterest, and even Blogspot.  But I've overlooked Patreon!  The very vehicle by which so many of you generously support this comic month after month.

So, needless to say, that has to change.  And by way of substance, I may as well remind anyone who might have missed the memo that we're now on...

Patreon Cancels Proposed Changes

Well, sometimes feedback makes a difference!  You might have heard, but the folks in charge of Patreon have nixed the aforementioned plans to alter their fee structure, as announced in Jack Conte's post.  So for now it looks like it's business as usual.  There may yet be changes made at some point down the line, but I'm sure that lessons have been learned and it's nice to know that voices...

Regarding Changes to Patreon's Fees

By now many of you have heard about Patreon's plans for revising their payment structure next month.  If not, here's the gist of it: Patreon currently deducts transaction fees from the income creators receive.  That's money taken from me, not you.  Which I accept.  Price of doing business, right?

But starting next month they may be changing that, applying a surcharge of 2.9% plus $0.35 to patrons' total pledge amounts.  Which means you'll be receiving a fee on top of t...
