Rabbit-Spider

No one said that this Patreon campaign had to pertain exclusively to Zebra Girl, right?  Shoot, my name's on the marquee too.

So, I rarely participate in memes, but this #Spidersona thing is right up  my alley.  Into the Spider-verse was great, and I’ve loved Spider-Man  all my life!  Maybe the best Halloween costume I ever wore was a  Spider-Man outfit that my mother made for me by upgrading a  store-brought suit with her superlative sewing skills. ...

Candle Night

From the writings of Stan Stone, noted Lepologist (date unknown):

"The advent of the family of Sam Sprinkles gave rise to a new race of sapient lagomorphs.  Initially dubbing themselves “High Rabbits”, their superficial resemblance to the increasingly notorious Vorpal Pook created a public impression of commonality over the years which led to their being more popularly known as “Mimsy Pook”.  The source of this moniker is uncertain, though it’s been suggested that it...

Good News/Bad News

Hello, everyone!  I'd like to give my gratitude to anyone and everyone who's ordered a book, and who continues to support my work in one way or another!

That said, here's good news and bad news: the good news is that Volume 3 is now available for sale again!  The bad news is that I just sold out of Volume 5.  New copies will be arriving in early January.  I apologize.

But I'm glad to know that thanks to you my art is spreading i...

Minor Shortage

It's wonderful to sell things.  I'd like to thank everyone who's ordered a book, I hope you enjoy them for years to come!  And I'm grateful for anyone who's planning to order a book in the future.  But heads up, I've sold out of Volume 3 (Downward Spiral), and I'm down to my last few copies of Volume 2 (The Twilight Zoo).  The printers are at work, and fresh books are expected to arrive around the 13th of this month.  My apologies for letting my stock fall behind demand....

I'd like to thank you all for your patience and support.  To celebrate  the occasion, I'm also putting on a special sale!  While supplies last, &...

Thanks Given

Hey everyone!  I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.  I’m away from home myself at the moment, but when I get back I’ll be able to make an announcement that’s been a long time coming.  Meanwhile, I hope you’re managing to stay safe and sound while you recuperate, and that you always have a lot to be thankful for.  For my part, I’m thankful for you!  Take care, everyone.

Black Betty Unwinds

10/31/18:  The Vorpal Pook tend to conceal themselves beneath a veneer of respectability.  Ever the exhibitionist, Black Betty sometimes uses Halloween as an opportunity to buck propriety and let down her hair.

Just a little.

Volume Five on the Horizon

10/20/18:  NEWS!  Volume 5 is on its way!  I've finally received, reviewed, and revised the initial print copy, and sent an order for more.

Now, a few things must be said.  Taking the size of the product into account, I'm afraid it's going to be more expensive than previous volumes.  I've kept the price at $10.00 for each book, but Heaven on Earth is roughly twice as big as the next largest volume (and very nearly two and a half times as big as the shortest)! &nbs...

Comic: Web Stinging

I'm still waiting for the test copy of the new book to arrive, but in the meantime it occurs to me that there's no reason not to post some of my other work here.  After all, my patrons aren't just supporting Zebra Girl.  Your support helps everything I do!  And after Volume 5 and the Omnibus manifest I'll have to emphasize other projects, anyway.  This Patreon program is for all of me!  And I do want to keep this feed active.  You deserve all the content I can provi...

Five is Nigh!

Behold!  BEHOLD!  Behold.  Everyone!  Thank you for your patience and  support!  Volume Five is on its way!  I've sent an order for a test  copy to my print service of choice (Ka-Blam), and as soon as I know the  finished product meets my ruthless standards I'll order more!  And then  you'll be able to order from ME!

I can't wait.  It's a special feeling to complete a book.  And this  volume was particularly time consuming! ...

Progress Report: Volume Five

8/19/18:  Hello everyone!  It's high time for me to drop a line.  High line time.

Work on Zebra Girl's final volume is progressing.  I'm formatting the  comic pages one by one, and most of the bells and whistles are finished.   The back cover, the ISBN code, the intro page, that page with all the  copyright stuff and printing details in the corner, the decorative  buffer pages... and of course I have to finish the front cover's  illustrat...

Progress Report

Hello everyone!  How are things?  Sure is strange, going without a new page baked fresh every week.  But it's high time I reached out to keep us all in the loop!

Progress is being made towards printing Volume 5 of Zebra Girl (the final storyline, "Heaven on Earth"), though I've been slowed by certain family issues which coincidentally arose just as the comic was concluding.  Nothing really terrible, but situations which require a lot of my time and attention.

Still, t...

For the Future

I felt obliged to create a cover for any new readers that may ever find  their way here.  Welcome to the show!  Zebra Girl began in the early  days of the millennium, and I encourage you to begin at the beginning and see what eighteen years can do to the story of a young woman who lost and found herself through a supernatural condition.

For those of you who've seen the story through to...

6/11/2018: The End

And that’s Zebra Girl.

Well, I have to thank everyone.  Being thankful is a big part of my  philosophy.  So!  I’m thankful to my family, naturally.  Mom, Dad,  Sarah…  I’d like to dedicate Zebra Girl to Ashley, Sarah’s upcoming  daughter and my niece to be.

And there are the fellow artists and writers who’ve been such helpful friends over the years… Raven, 2018-06-11 15:37:40 +0000 UTC View Post

6/8/2018: Epilogue, Page 23

In case you missed the memo (and my memos are easily missed), this is NOT the final page.  The final page will appear on Monday (June 11th).  I thought that I could wrap things up sooner, but Zebra Girl, she squeezed me for just a few more days of life.

Not that the comic is “dying,” necessarily, any more than a story dies  when you finish the last chapter and close a book.  I would like to  think that many of you will return here ...

6/5/2018: The End is Slightly Less Nigh

Update, June 5:  Art is fluid, right up to the last second.  I  had intended for the next page to be the last, but the way things are  shaping up, it looks like there's going to be still one more page after that!

Sorry to confuse the matter, but at least the comic gets to be just one  page longer.  Which is good, I suppose.  Hopefully you hadn't scheduled  any important appointments in a manner dependent on next Friday bei...

Not a friend.  Not really an enemy.  Not much of anything, after all.  Just chalk to be wiped away.

Terribly sorry (again) for keeping everyone waiting. Especially since this might be taken as something of an anti-climax to the comic's oldest mystery man. I pondered many times over the years how best to resolve his presence... I won't say that this is what I always had in mind. There were ideas. He might have been a big part of Zebra Girl's story.

But ...

I guess anyone can change with the proper encouragement.  But, wait, who is that??  Why, it must be someone who strayed from the tour group.

Hey, I hope you all had a nice Memorial Day.  Looking back, it really is  worthwhile to take some time to appreciate what we have, and how we got  it, and who worked hard so that we could have it.  Perspective is  important.

Just look at Zandra (or "Khazandra," as she's now known in certain circles).  ...

Hmm.

I'm terribly sorry for making everyone wait today.  Although,  ironically, I'm not nearly as sorry that I'll be making you wait even  longer for the next page!

In accordance with tradition ("tradition" being a very loose term), I'll  be taking Monday off in observance of Memorial Day ("observance" being a  loose term as well).  And of course "off" is similarly loose, since  I'll still be working like a slave to keep to this ruth...

Chag Sameach!  As I understand it, that's the proper greeting for  Shavuot.  I'm trying not to miss any holidays or occasions as I wind the  comic down.  It seems important somehow.

But... wait.  Who is that girl?  Do we have time for new characters??

Ramadan Mubarak!  To any Muslim readers, I wish you the best.

And speaking of the best, that's a fine callback in the first panel!  "Severe."  Get it?  Because it echoes Wally's sentiment  back in... in....  Good lord, that was over a hundred pages ago.  I  just wrote it off the top of my head because I love to tie everything  together.

Even outfits can change!  Though it seems like we've seen something similar somewhere before.  Clearly just a coincidence.  And if you think it looks tremendously impractical, just remember it's magic and stuff!

Heck, even her vampire helpers followed Rebecca's example and changed  their clothes.  And good for them.  Those old rags were getting ratty.

Hello again!  Back to our Monday/Friday schedule.  And that was the last  hiatus ever.  I mean, there's not very many pages left at all, so I  can't possibly find room for another one!  Right?  Right?

Also, no, they're not all in the room with her when she opens her  present.  A certain amount of time passes between panels five and six.   Comics are magical that way.

Getting Back to Patreon

Oh, I've been foolish again.  Since the beginning of Zebra Girl's Epilogue I've advertised its updates through Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, DeviantArt, Pinterest, and even Blogspot.  But I've overlooked Patreon!  The very vehicle by which so many of you generously support this comic month after month.

So, needless to say, that has to change.  And by way of substance, I may as well remind anyone who might have missed the memo that we're now on...

Patreon Cancels Proposed Changes

Well, sometimes feedback makes a difference!  You might have heard, but the folks in charge of Patreon have nixed the aforementioned plans to alter their fee structure, as announced in Jack Conte's post.  So for now it looks like it's business as usual.  There may yet be changes made at some point down the line, but I'm sure that lessons have been learned and it's nice to know that voices...

Regarding Changes to Patreon's Fees

By now many of you have heard about Patreon's plans for revising their payment structure next month.  If not, here's the gist of it: Patreon currently deducts transaction fees from the income creators receive.  That's money taken from me, not you.  Which I accept.  Price of doing business, right?

But starting next month they may be changing that, applying a surcharge of 2.9% plus $0.35 to patrons' total pledge amounts.  Which means you'll be receiving a fee on top of t...
