Patreon broke their messaging system pretty badly two or three weeks ago. Thousands of messages from the last few years were all marked Unread and shown in random order mixed up with new messages (making it completely impossible to identify and read new messages). The problems went through several more iterations while they were working to fix it.

Which is a status message that did not previously exist, but sounds suspiciously like it hasn't actually sent the message.
