AVGN on AVG in Season 4!

It TOTALLY happened Dudes and Dudettes! 

We did two different shoots with Mr. James Rolfe! One shoot where he plays the nerd in a non-canonical 1-minute episode, and then one shoot that stretches many episodes where he plays a brand NEW character in the AVG universe.

Expect the silly 1-minute episode earlier on, but the new character featuring James somewhere mid-season, which could take a year or more! It is my opinion that it is some of the best AVG we have ever produced. The wait will be worth it. We'll post some teases for Patrons as editing commences!

AVG Brainstorming Seassion!

Yes, this was posted to our VGA Patreon also by accident, sorry for the double post!

I need your help!

For an upcoming scene in VGA we need a selection of notoriously difficult moments in NES gaming history. We know that for Ace and Chet that first moment came with the first Goomba they encountered. Another easy one was the notoriously hard air craft carrier landing in Top Gun.

Can you guys give me some more hair pulling examples? Remember we're looking for specific MOMENTS in games not just difficult games in general.

Season 4 Intro Preview

In case you were wondering what the boys would be looking at first...

Patreon Tiers Updated!

Here is a little shot for preview of the first episode of the season!

Also, we have updated the reward tiers to reflect the new, condensed shooting schedule constraints.

For $5 Patrons: The Deacon/Dad show, as announced with our initial Patreon video, was always a candidate to be retooled. Instead of Deacon, Becky has taken up the mantel of our behind the scenes videographer and she has been grabbing candid footage whenever it looks like the good shit. We will also provide outtakes and unedited shots for ya occasionally and maybe some key moments edited out from our $10 patron 360 footage! I have also been recording some extra footage of behind the scenes prep and time out moments with the main camera.

For $10 Patrons: As discussed on the set preview live stream we did, live streams are not really doable since not only do we have severely limited time, but all of the live streams would be happening well before ANYONE is charged for a single episode!

In lieu of live streams we will be providing unedited 360 footage from the set recorded whenever the moment strikes us! It will be made available to ya'll as the episodes are released! This should prevent heavy spoilers too!

Behind the Scenes 360 Birds Eye

Hey ya buddies, I wanted to let you know that we continue to shoot 360 behind the scenes as we shoot but will be releasing them timed with the actual episodes when they are edited in the coming years. That way $10 will have a benefit and reason to stay there plus you won't be flooded all at once with hours of content and spoilers!

Also... our Theta V seems to be really confused by the tungsten 300W bulbs we use. I wish there was a way to set white balance manually while in video mode.

AVG in 4K!

How do you like those dust specks? Make sure you have selected 4K from the quality dial!

It was not my original intention but after some robust testing I have decided to shoot this season of AVG in 4K and 60 frames per second. Here is a sample of that.

First Successful Shooting Day Complete!

For our $10 Patrons we did a 360 video of the shooting of the first "Take out the trash!" scene of the season! Also we are considering 4K version of the show as an exclusive for you $10 guys too! The attached screenshot shows how good that can look!

All of these rewards will come when it is time for this episode's release which will be a while because this is NOT the first episode of the season for... reasons!

LIVE! Tonight! AVG Begins!

Tonight we will begin shooting AVG. Our first session is mostly going to be a non canonical hang out and improve of an old style AVG episode, like the first ever we did, with no script and a few beers! 

$10 Patrons will get to join us with a live stream so make sure ya keep an eye on your email! 

Sorry but we are not sure when we will be live exactly because there are a lot of unknown elements to our first set up.

Awesome Video Games Production Update #1

(Sorry for a double email some of you will have recieved. This was sent to the VGA Patreon by mistake. I gotta get used to having two accounts on here.)

Hey ya Dudes and Dudettes!

There is not much to report in this inaugural "production update" (these need a better name). 

Bec has cleaned out the room that will be used for shooting the majority of AVG. Previously that was used for storage of costumes and props for VGA. Somehow, Becky has crammed those things elsewhere in various nooks and crannies around our house (the bedroom doesn't have much walking space now).

A meeting took place with Kyle, and preliminary brainstorming has been done for this new season's set design. We are looking at a more realistic basement rumpus room feel. Think: less video game paraphernalia, more family photos.

As far as Frash is concerned: the first episode has got to make it's final steps out of my brain and onto a page where props and costumes can be finalized into an actionable list for Becky to work on. This little vacation we are just now wrapping up in Florida has been a great place for daydreaming up some new stuff I had not thought of until now.

I have also been doing lighting tests in the now bare spare room. It is a challenge to get the high key lighting we are used to in such a small space, but I have purchased a few different pieces of equipment to test before coming to a final solution. Like most things with me, it is all about seeing stuff in action and on a screen before I am happy with a production aesthetic.

As things stand, we would love to have an episode out by the end of April which would allow us to cash in on the initial costs we are plunking down, and prevent us from sticker-shocking you guys with multiple episodes within a single month (which I think is a possibility in May).

If you have any questions or thoughts, please leave them in the comments! Just keep in mind I may not answer everything based on the element of surprise I wanna maintain for certain aspects of the plot!
