Thumbnails

Some thoughts and work process. As I'm working on my storyboard, I wanted to share with you some stuff about the importance of making thumbnails. It's something I learned very slowly and late, was pretty unnatural for me at first but it is finally really crucial.

Next and last one. Tried to improve the reflections. Still not totally satisfying and too complex imo but well, call it done, was already long enough!

Not easy in the end to choose a combination of the various elements. Would be something else you would want to see that I didn't set?

I edited also the previous post to remove the glint reflections

Third month

At first welcome to the newcomers, thank you for joining! 

This is the third month of this page and I wanted to know if you are all satisfied with it or, if not, what you would suggest for improving it. As I'm just starting here, and as I'm on a pretty large range of stuff including media and subject, I need your opinion about what you care more in all that I do, and eventually what you want to see more here.

Finaly My Smasher OC in a kind of pinup pose on knee.

Tried to integrate her in a photography as I do sometime. I don't know why, but I'm pretty fond of concrete underground and parking for background. This one was found on unsplash and free to use.

She have also a name now, I think you could get it. The idea is not mine but I thought it was cool.

Flat colors on characters. I let the background lineart visible to get an idea of the full composition. I will maybe make a little video process until done.

Red or blue?

I'm probably more for the red but I have a hard time deciding.

For red, it makes more sense with the beef cut and how it's represented  on posters etc. but blue is more a traditional color for tattoo... What you think?

I can't work faster on this one with current commissions but it should be ready in few time.

Designing random and silly shoes

Little step-by-step on just shoes. One picture, one more layer. Starting  with lineart and base colors and adding progressively shadows and  lights depending on the environment.

Just some back study from a photo done few days ago, with sketch and lineart (I forgot to draw the finger at first).

Void explorer wip and kind of process

Some work in progress and step by step on this character that I call "void explorer" from a project I'm working on currently and would be visible in full this month hopefully.

First picture : just flat and local colors

Second: main light source only one layer a bit sculpted, but not that much, that give already a 3D feeling

Third: adding a layer of more sculpted and volumetric shadow to give volumes in the main shadow.

Trying to rationalize my process more, because it'...

Lineart pose struggles...

Well, some wip, and as said in the title, some struggles with lineart vs sketch... Damn it!

Some thoughts: sketches are often more visually efficient because dynamic etc. The problem with the lineart is to keep the impression that gives the sketch. As lines are very bold, the accuracy could be pretty weak but our brain makes the corrections needed, and the dynamism, if well done, talks itself. I tried several times to make the lineart on the last sketch I posted, but nothing good was do...

Slicer (lewd/nude versions)

Again the Slicer with more or less clothes. Combinations are not infinite, but damn, there is a bunch possible...

It's always interesting to draw from nude to fully clothed, takes a lot of time, but it's useful for learning (and well to make also some little "lewd" stuff...)

Wanted to make her a big dragon or snake tattoo, but not find the time yet...

Hands struggles

Something a bit different this time, as I struggled with some hand drawing recently, I wanted to share just some thoughts about it.

As you may know, hands can be very hard to draw (and even AI prompter know it well ^^). Sometimes I draw them very fast, I see well what I want and all is good, but sometimes not.

The first one took me 2 days of struggle, I couldn't see this pose, totally blocked, and it's not totally satisfying, but well at least the pose is understandable. When I'm ...
