This is the first in a series of posts I'll be making of the chapters featuring coded words, but now decoded. Funny story: I didn't actually have the decoded versions of these on hand, so I had to go back and make them. It was pretty easy, since I just used an online decoder to make them in the first place, so I just needed to reverse the process to get the original.
I will not be decoding the blanks in chapter 8. The reason is that some of the words that are ...

Patch notes:
“You’re Naomi?” asked Elise.
“That’s me,” she replied. “And you’re Elise. I heard him introducing you earlier.”
Elise was a bit taken aback by the complete irreverence of her speech and posture. Before her, all the other Drow had at least given her a polite greeting and a small bow, but Naomi hadn’t even bothered to look her in the eye yet. She was glancing all around with her one good ...

Salome’s smile vanished, and she and Emilia stared at Elise with blank expressions, as if they hadn’t understood what she just said.
“Stop attacking the dwarves?” asked Jean. “Are you crazy?”
“No,” said Elise. “Please let me explain.”
“We have received a prophecy from Titania herself,” said Emilia. “Although you are a fey, we cannot just stop our ...

After a comment here and one on RR, I realized that there were a couple inconsistencies with my stat sheets. This is because I was mostly writing without updating them, and then I went and retroactively created snapshots. This wasn't too bad, since I have a very fancy Excel sheet that auto-calculates the stats by level, but I did miss a number of things. So, I have just finished going through and updating all my stat sheets on my end. These updates include:
Skill descriptions th...

Patch Notes:
This time around, Elise was able to get out of the city without a hitch. She got a few glares and the occasional curse from passerby, but beyond that, there were no problems. There was only one guard at the tunnel to the lake, and though he looked suspicious of what was going on, the king’s note was enough to get him to look the other direction.

Elise spent the rest of the day in her room doing nothing. She didn’t cry– she didn’t know the Drow well enough to cry for them– but she did feel hollow. The king had assured her that he’d work something out, but he needed to speak with the Council, and they both agreed that the Council meeting would go better if Elise didn’t attend.
She continued to do nothing for the rest of the night, not moving from her spot in the corner of her bed. She ignored the plate of mushrooms th...

Thanks for joining my Patreon. A couple things to note:
If you're on Apple, you should subscribe through the website, not the app. In the US, Patreon has managed to win the lawsuit forcing Apple to show the real prices, but if you're not in the US, you will be paying almost 150% the normal price if you sub through Apple.
Patreon won't let me put the images of the stat sheets in the chapters for some reason. I can paste the image, but as soon as I...

Releasing this to the $5 tier just a little bit early because I have to leave and won't be back for a couple hours, and better early than late.
The king worked fast once he made decisions. Not twenty minutes after the Council meeting was over, Elise was back in the dungeons with Bragi and two of the Royal Guards who had explicit instructions to obey Elise’s every command, even if she told them to free the Drow. She was under no illusion that they would actually do so if she a...

So sorry for the late post for the $5 tier. I completely forgot. I have set reminders for myself to keep this from happening in the future
“...So as I mentioned before, your majesty, not much information of value.”
“Not much of value?” said Hallbjorn. “Not much of value?! You moron, they basically confirmed that they are planning to wage war on us!”
The king’s face was turning red with anger and incredulity at Bragi’s analysis of the conversation. Th...

Once again, apologies for the other tiers for the ping. I have to set it like this because Patreon doesn't allow different release dates for different tiers, so my options to let the Forest Rabbit tier know this chapter is now available are this, or reuploading it entirely.
Another dwarf head poked around the corner from the street, and Elise knew she needed to move. Since her stealth had already been blown, she saw no reason to remain landbound anymore, and summoned her wings ...

Apologies to the higher tiers getting notified about the edit here. In order to notify the lower tier that this chapter is now available, it is necessary, because Patreon doesn't allow different release dates for different tiers for some reason.
The morning started as usual with Elise waking up to the sound of heavy footsteps climbing the stairs of the tower to her room. It was her personal maid, Jona, come to give her her daily bath. Although Elise did like being clean, the ba...

It took two and a half months for Elise to finally convince the king to let her outside the castle. Of course, technically, she could leave whenever she wanted. She wasn’t a prisoner or anything. She was there due to a mutually beneficial agreement that she could terminate at any time. Technically.
However, while the Council was split down the middle on what to do with her, a majority of the city was against her. The Rune of Fate– which apparently the dwarves perceived as a gl...

“Y-yes,” said Elise. “How? Is that orb a translator?”
“It is,” said the king. “I am King Hallbjorn. Do you have a name?”
“Elise. You called me ‘Fated One’ earlier. What does that mean?”
“It means you are the Fated One. You bear the Rune of Fate.”
“The Rune of-?”
Elise’s eyes widened with understanding, and she went to check her status window. The skill {Mark of Fate} was still there where she had nearly forgotten about it. Howeve...

Elise barely had time to {Dart} away before a set of jaws with teeth as tall as she was closed around the air where she had just been. As the creature sank back into the dark water, she continued to fly up, as high as she could, until her wings were almost brushing against the roof of the cave. The monster leapt again, getting its full body out of the water– which was impressive, given its size– but it still wasn’t quite high enough to reach her.

In front of her, there were many purple boxes detailing her new skills and stats, but Elise’s attention was entirely focused on what was behind her. She had wings! Pretty, white fairy wings that glowed!
She didn’t have room to flap them in her tiny burrow, but she could move them around enough to know that she wouldn’t have any trouble controlling them. It was a whole new set of limbs, but they felt so natural that it was like she had had them her whole life.

Simultaneously, the cows’ eyes glowed with heat, and Elise used {Dart} to jump out of the way. She barely got it off in time to avoid the red beams of heat that turned the blue grass where she had been standing into smoking ashes.
Elise did not waste any time thinking. She simply ran back toward the vines that hid her tunnel. Behind her, the cows made sounds that were somewhere between a moo and a growl, and started charging her, their long tongues hanging out of fang-filled mou...

When she woke up, for a moment, she was confused about where she was and how she had gotten there. Then, it all came back to her.
Oh right, she thought.
She wanted to cry again, but it seemed all her tears were spent. She just lay as she was for a few minutes until her attention was drawn to the System notification from before, which was still hovering in front of her.

After two weeks of being read to every night, Elise was getting a pretty good handle on the world’s language. She was by no means fluent, but she knew most of the basic words, and could understand at least the gist of everything she heard. Reading the language was still beyond her though. Sophie only pointed at the words she was reading some of the time, and even than she seemed to fall behind or rush ahead at random, and Elise couldn’t make much sense of it at all.
She wasn...

What features are unavailable? She asked.

“Sophie!” Sylvanna pounded on the door for a third time. “Breakfast time!”
Sophie replied with an incomprehensible mumble, muffled by the solid oak door. Sylvanna knocked one more time before opening the door. The room was mostly clean, save for the two books left open on the desk and the bedsheets which had been gathered at the center of the bed in a vaguely human-shaped lump.
“So-phie,” she sang. “It’s time to wake up.”
There was no response.

The one in the tree was the girl from the hunter pair that she had seen tracking her slime’s trail the previous day. She was crouching on one of the thicker branches and staring at her with a wide smile. Normally, she would consider a smiling human a good thing, but being one of the primary food sources of said smiling human, it made her blood run cold instead.
Elise used {Dart} to get as far away as she could while the girl jumped out of the tr...

The System was way overselling it when it said a mouse could break through the evolution membrane. A determined insect could break through it without issue. The second Elise’s teeth hit it, it burst, filling her mouth with a taste so foul she forgot about her broken foot attempting to flee. Blinded by the pain, she finished limping back to the entrance tunnel as the evolution pod drained. When it was about half-empty, she got the System notification
