Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am almost done with the upgrades! As you can see I got all the ornaments for all the different heights (small tower, high tower and bastion/gate) plus the regular roof tops (3x3" and 5x3") and the 3x3" alternate roof top.
Only part missing is the 5x3" alternate roof top and then to produce all the cut files and maybe some short instructions.
As the weather gods seem to be in our favor for the next two days I will do a quite detour into the mountains a...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
this week I have been busy with adding more and more parts to the updates for the DAFB2 set!
I have made both sizes for the roof tops that can go on the towers/bastions and gates. But you can also use them stand alone as a shed or storage building! For my build I am going for the thatched style but all the "usual" ones are included like the viking shingles and grass top.
For the towers I have made ornaments you can add to the corners, which significantl...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
now that summer finally seems to be over (here) and temperature is cooling down to a more moderate (and enjoyable) level I also have been cooling down after the latest release. I have been busy with working on promoting of the new DAFB#2 set but I also started working on the "upgrades" for the set.
Above you can see a thatched version of a roof for the small gate that will also fit the towers, the bastion or it can be used stand alone as a shed. These roof op...

Ladies and gentlemen,
while I am working on the getting the final touches done for the DAFB#2 set I wanted to share with you the first of my pics taken on the 6x4" gaming table.
This size table allowed me to go big with my buildings, setting up a village plus fortifications. With my old LotR minis I decided to have the goblins attack the village (they even brought the troll!) while the Rohan forces scramble to setup defense positions.
I have used buildings from the NVB...

For August I am giving you simple banner "minis" in two versions. One can be used stand alone and the other can be mounted to walls of any kind. The free version comes with a white and red checker pattern for the cloth part. They will go great with last months palisades or with any settlement/city/fortress that wants to show the inhabitants colors!
If you want to thank someone, thank my Patreons who make this possible with their support!

Ladies and Gentlemen,
It's time to start having some fun! I have completed the bastion module now too, giving me all the modules I wanted for my large fortress layout. So this weekend I setup my huge 6x4" gaming table, slapped on the large battlemat and started to place it all into position.
The fortress walls and the village within came together very nicely. Dressing it all up with scatter details and minis took a while though :) I didn't realize how many crates, wagons, fences a...

Ladies and gentlemen,
today I can show you my progress towards the next set (the Dark Age Fortress Builder #2) and also the upcoming bit for this month, the banners.
The latter are basically finished. I have done test builds with beta testers and everything looks fin on that side. I am still figuring out what's the best solution to make it customizable for you guys and a new idea I hear from one of the testers was to make a neutral white version as a JPG file. This would be a very...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have been away for most of the week to house and cat sit in beautiful "Mühlviertel" in Upper Austria. I managed to get out every day and discover the countryside there but every evening we had thunderstorms, some leading to floodings in the surrounding areas and one night we even had no power for a couple of hours. So quite exciting days. I was often worried for the 18 years old cat that would still prefer to roam outside, even during the thunderstorms. But she ...

Ladies and gentlemen,
today I can start to show you my progress with the upcoming palisade bits. The main idea was to have simple 2D papermini like parts that you can assemble to form palisades around your settlement, camp, outpost or fortress!
Use my classic papermini bases to place the palisade bits in the layout of your choice or use the connector bits to form a larger wall with the single parts. The connector parts can be slotted or glued. Slotted they hold surprisingly ...

with the first DAFB set released I have started working on the next modules and of course on this months Basic Bits, which will be palisades fitting for the Dark Age setting and many others too.
Here's a little GIF showing the options I have packed into the front side of the palisades. I will do some backside options too. These will be 2D walls that you can cut out in different lengths and place either with my classic papermini bases or some other holding dev...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
we are having a fun heatwave here in SchnitzelCountry. The mornings are bearable but trying to get anything done after 3 in the afternoon is a challenge. Only works on the days it cools off. Of course then we get thunderstorms (some regions even get tornados) and hail the size of tennis balls!
But I actually am getting a lot done for the first set to be released soon. It will include the 3 wall modules, the small gate and the stairs. I have built some testbui...

Here's a quick look at my prototype for the water well. When researching Viking ones the only thing I could find were old Russian ones. But the Vikings also traveled there so maybe they have been influenced by them :)
I also want to make a classic stone one later. But for now I will continue with this type of architecture. (Next I plan to make the simple wooden palisade elements (wall and gate) for smaller settlement enclosures.)
I think I will have the textured version of t...

today I can show you some test builds I have made, showcasing the different wall module lengths and possible combinations of crennellation type and foundation skin. I have actually added one more thing last minute - a pointy posts version of the wall - so no pic of that yet.

I have already mentioned that I want to do a water well for this months basic bit. The sketch shows different versions. I have tried to research Viking wells but there really isn't much there. I have found old Russian wells looking like the one on the left. With the Vikings actually going there and the me...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have received some questions regarding the build of the barrels, so I thought I make a build video for them.
To me barrels come right after crates and boxes in terms of what you can never have enough off to spice up your villages and dungeons. They look great and provide great LOS options on your table.
You can build them with the free version but don't forget that Patreons have the advanced option version giving you much more choices and ...

Hello ladies and gentlemen,
a quick post about the progress of the last days. In a nutshell I am getting very excited abou the new sets :)
I have added some more prototype modules, the last one some bends, so we don't have to go in straight lines and 90° corners all the time. I also tried a more flat roof for the gates and tower tops but not sure yet which one is better - this one or the one in the last post. Then I made some stairs in case you want a more elaborate way of going ...

I have been tinkering with the throne the last days and am now very happy with the result.
The free version will be the throne seat and the low stools. The Patreon advanced version has the ornament wall with weapons options. To the known shields (and axes) I have added a spear layer. My idea was (in addition to looking cool) the ornament wall could be where the chieftain could hide behind in case of danger - and have weapons in reach!
I have also released a free "Saxon Horse Head"...

Hi guys,
back with a quick update today: This is the Norse throne I want to do for this months bit.
The prototype turned out a bit small so I am going to upscale it a tad so the chieftain can sit there comfortably :) The back plate is a separate part so you can only have the chair part of the throne, but I wanted to incorporate the shape of the buildings into the throne too. So this is an option too!
To complement the throne I will also do a grain ark type of chest. Somethin...

The post-release phase is as always heavy on posting everywhere and doing marketing activities but I have been working on finalizing the throne and the grain ark for next months bits.
I also have a configuration in mind I want to be able to build (fantasy movie fans might recognize what I am trying to replicate; there will be a completely new tower module to be done for that too) and am looking for solutions for that. Basically I need a way to cover the seams when placing two roof...
