April Pinup

Spring is finally here, and I am so excited for sundresses, flip-flops and flowers once again! Being on lockdown has made me appreciate the little things, like sitting in a beautiful park or taking a walk through the forest.

I hope the April showers bring you many flowers :)

Disney Goth Commission

One of my wonderful patrons, RoseHeart, commissioned me to make a Disney-style gothic princess recently and we wanted to share it! It was so fun to make, and I loved the idea of creating a totally unique princess that's not so mainstream. I wonder what her song would be about...

These were some of my other character designs I thought about using for the comic, this was a few years ago when I was still fleshing out ideas. I opted for a simpler, anime-inspired design because I love making exaggerated, silly expressions...and these more realistic styles are sooo time consuming to make lol. 

March Pinup

As much as I hate to admit it, I used to be a St Patty's day star! I mean, nothing crazy like getting arrested or being on the news, but definitely a fun day (and I mean day, like morning, noon and night). I still like to have a good time at home, wearing green and sharing a pint or two, it's much more fun when you don't have to wait in those long lines ;)

Ooooh it's been a busy month, I got more comics done than I planned and that's great because March break is coming up! My kids are gonna be tearing around the house like the cute little demons they are so I'm very glad I got ahead of the game this time. It's Extra February-y Outside

Have I mentioned how much I despise winter? It's like every year I forget how bad it is, and I get distracted by Christmas and New Year's fun but then the dead of winter comes along and it's so depressing. We've had so many snow storms so far this year I've lost track.  And here in Canada, the spring doesn't start until June :( Someone save me!

Winter Hands

Oh my goodness, I sincerely hope other people can relate to the horrible feeling of winter hands (not that I would wish that on anyone!)

It seems to be something I inherited, like some kind of family curse. Each winter, my hands turn into Frankenstein paws and there's really no point in trying to pretty them up, but I have to do something to distract from their terrible appearance! 

Mind you, it's not been so bad now that I work from home and dont need to go out in the elemen...

February Pin-up

I love Valentine's day, it's one of the only good parts about being stuck in the dead of winter! There's nothing like getting all dressed up to go out...but just staying in can be just as fun ;)

How I got Covid (probably)

To be fair, I'm 99% sure my son brought it home from primary class because he was the first one to show symptoms, but this certainly didn't help matters. On the bright side, I've learned not to carry my mask loose in my purse with my keys!

Hello new year!  Here's an exclusive sneak peak at some of the new comics coming out this month. One of my little secrets is that I draw my glasses on digitally at the end (seems easier for some reason) so none of my pencil sketches include my glasses

Anime style practice

Just playing around with anime-style art :) I love to try new things and expand my skill set. This one took a while as I'm still getting used to the style, especially the hair and eyes! I'd love to try more poses. I'll be drawing my cat next!

I love playing around with shapes and colours, and animals are fun to draw so this is my favourite way to pass the time! Drawing for fun helps boost creativity and gives you limitless ways to practise your style or try something new! I struggle with creating  backgrounds sometimes but I love the way this one turned out

Sketches

A group of sketches straight from my latest doodle book. I like to start with a general idea for a comic and then let the images tell me where to go. This allows me to play around with expressions and poses more freely, and it helps prevent writer's block because there's no pressure to make it perfect, I can just go with the flow!

Mornings

I think we get about two whole minutes of quiet, morning chill time before some chaos breaks out downstairs between the kids. They're adorable, they really are, but it can be a harsh awakening some days. Why do children wait for the moment when you're most relaxed and vulnerable, like early morning in bed, to cause trouble? It's like they have some 'parent relaxation radar' that notifies them to be bad because they're caregivers have taken a single moment for themselves.
