I'm not buying the industrial building

The idea of buying an old industrial building for use as a workshop has fallen through.

There were too many unknown variables regarding structural wood and steel components hidden from view in a damp wall.

Slightly disappointed, because it would have been cool, but a modern premises is probably a much better option.

There are strong similarities between the real smoke detectors and the very dodgy eBay ones.  Notably the standard sensing chamber.  But the ones from your local supermarket have very different circuitry.

This is a very minimalist LED string flasher.  I'm wondering if the microcontroller actually has a dedicated H-bridge output, or if they're just maybe abusing the output current from standard IO pins.

Testing bulk LED filaments
